Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water Review

Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water Review

I’ve been desperate to try out the Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water since it’s arrival in my first Tili box, I sensibly decided to hold it back due to it’s travel friendly size so it came to Milan with me at the end of last month and then I’ve finished it up since getting home.

From the few pieces I’ve tried I really enjoy Elemis Skincare, I’ve had pieces given to me as presents in the past but I’ve never splashed the cash on items from  the range for myself. This Micellar Water is a relatively new launch from Elemis, with a full size bottle at 200ml costing £24. To put that into perspective Bioderma which is now much, much cheaper than it was a year ago here, a 250ml bottle is about £7. Given that’s considered to be about the top range of the Micellar Water market, this is a lot more expensive!

So this got me wondering this self claiming Smart Cleanse water, well what makes it so smart to be 4 times the price. Now I can’t find exactly what the claim is that makes it smart, but it contains Rosewater and Chamomile which is an anti-oxidant. Elemis claims that the ingredients should leave ‘skin gently cleansed, whilst the natural moisture barrier is maintained. Revealing a clear, radiant complexion.’

Across my face, I find the Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water really soothing and leaving my skin feeling fresh afterwards. Around my eyes whilst it does clean away most things really easily (apart from that super stubborn CoverGirl Supersizer Mascara) , it did however sting my eyes – not normally a problem I have with any Micellar Waters so I’m presuming the additional Chamomile and Rosewater as opposed to more pure Micelle based products makes this what irritates me.

I really like how fresh the Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water leaves my skin feeling, do I like it 7 or 8 times more than a Garnier Micellar Water that’s always on offer for about £3?  No. That being said I’ve seen reviews from people who can find Micellar Waters irritating to their skin and this has worked for them, so maybe if you’re in desperation to find a Micellar Water that will work for you this will be worth the try, but for how quickly I go through Micellar Waters (especially as this is a smaller than my usual Garnier ones!) it’s not worth splashing out for, whist I did enjoy using it.

Oh I detest skincare that sting the eyes! How disappointing. I only heard about Elemis from all the UK beauty YouTubers raving on about it. Nothing has really grabbed me enough to seek out the brand.

Oh, didn’t realise that Elemis wasn’t more international – it’s definitely more premium and you have to either seek it out on QVC or a couple of other online retailers or salons. The hairdressers I go to uses Elemis facials and sells some skincare sets (which is where I’ve gotten other products from in the past!)
I thought I was the only one who thought it stung as I’d heard such positive reviews, but Danni at a Beautiful thing found the same so it wasn’t just me! Shame as it leaves the skin so fresh!

Oh yes it definitely stings the eyes! All products do for me but this was extra bad. It made my skin look and feel great though, whereas other Micellar Waters dry my skin out. Such a shame it’s so much money as I’d love the full sized bottle☺ x

Given I get on perfectly fine with other Micellars it’s just too much for me to splash out on! If it was half the price, I’d consider it as a treat, but I’d rather spend my money of other things! x

Exactly. If other Micellars work fine there’s definitely no need to spend so much. I feel like sbove £15 is expensive for this. Actually above £10 for a Micellar is. I might treat myself to this one day but I couldn’t buy it regularly x

Wow that’s pricy! I agree, there are nice micellar waters that are much cheaper – and that don’t sting the eyes. OW.

Whew, good thing this didn’t work for you – it would be a LOT to pay for a micellar water if this turned out to work incredibly and got you hooked!
I’ve heard so many Youtubers rave about Elemis. Would love to try their skincare one day!

Boo it sucks that it caused your eyes to sting 🙁 But still, sometimes it’s nice trying pricier items because then you know that the cheaper items that you know and love are truly better 😀
