Last week I reviewed the Elizavecca Hell-Pore black head removing face mask and I also had picked up a second in my haul at the same time – the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Clay Bubble Mask. The black head removing mask didn’t go down so well for me, so I had mixed expectations with this one as I didn’t know whether to go on my first experience with Elizavecca or the mostly positive reviews I’ve seen about it across the internet.
This Milky Piggy face mask which bubbles up was a totally new thing for me when I saw it all of a sudden flooding my youtube feed, but since hearing about it and purchasing I believe there are ones from both the Sephora Collection and Origins – although neither of those from what I can tell are clay based.
This comes in a pot (equipped with a cute piggy like the last mask), and seems quite generously sized, although on closer inspection you do notice that the amount of product doesn’t fill the whole pot with a smaller sized pot on the inside. This mask handily comes with a lid to keep out air with a spatula to get out the product and apply to your face without the need to get your hands dirty.
The texture initially reminds me of being half way between a gel and a jelly texture, with a deep charcoal clay colour and a pleasent and fresh smell. Within seconds of starting to apply this across the face the mask begins foaming and bubbling, I was expecting it to take atleast a minute for the foaming to take place, but it is very instantaneous. Ben tried this out as well as I, and whilst I thought the sensation was like a slightly annoying tickling feeling, Ben found it way more irritating and kept asking how long it was until he could take it off.
It’s important to note when applying you should leave the part under your nose free – so it doesn’t foam up and creep it’s way into your nostrils!
I waited for the foaming to feel like it had slowed down completely, and at that point you massage the foam back into your skin, which goes down to a more clay like paste which then foams up again – but not as much after a few minutes. This whole process to takes around about 10 minutes.
Washing away the mask I found a little arduous, I think this would be an easier mask to do just before going in the shower to help get the residue of the mask away easier, as I found myself washing my face about si times with a flannel or muslin cloth. Any remaining residue kept bubbling up softly.
It’s not a mask that adds a boost of moisture, exfoliates etc. What it does do is leave the skin feeling really clean and for me without it feeling stripped, my skin also felt tighter. I’ve tried this on both clean skin, and with makeup on and it does do a good job of cleansing the face completely at the same time as it promises it does.
Overall, I’m a big fan of this mask, I thought the bubbling feeling might be the best thing about it and it would be a little gimicky, however I don’t have another mask that I’ve tried or that’s in my collection that’s as cleansing or leaves my skin feeling as fresh. I can see this being almost the face mask equivalent of a clarifying shampoo, something I turn to weekly to give me a really clean feeling. I think without the foaming the mask might feel a little boring – whilst it is a little gimicky, it does give an edge of excitement and originality.
The Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Clay Bubble Mask is on Amazon UK for £15 (Or amazon US for $7.99, grr raw end of the deal again) – I estimate that it would give you around 15-20 uses. I’m now really intrigued about their sheet masks, and plan to order them with my next amazon order!

I’ve never tried one of these bubbling masks before – I’ve seen some hilarious pictures of girls’ faces enveloped in a cloud of foam! I think these are more for the experience rather than doing TOO much for the skin. I definitely want to try one of these eventually.
I did think this was going to be a total gimick with no skincare benefits, but it does leave the skin feeling really fresh! Definitely going to be a regular in my weekly routine!
Wow, that stuff foams up pretty well! I do want to try a foaming mask just to see how it feels, haha. The texture of this one looks really interesting – clay masks tend to be thicker and more solid, not jelly-like like this one.
It’s so odd, it’s not as heavy as most face masks, I was surprised at just how instantly this started foaming up everywhere!
LOL, I forgot to mention – good call not putting any under the nose!
Even without putting it there was a still some black bits coming from my nose for about a day after!
The mask looks so cool 😍 I’ve never seen this mask before 🙈 How long do you keep it on? Does it dry down on face after you rub it down?
About 10 minutes before massaging it back down, then I waited another 3-5 minutes. It never dried it does feel heavier after its been massaged in but I Imagine it would take hours to dry fully if at all!

This is such a fun mask! It’s messy, but I enjoy it. The bubbling is so ticklish! And yes, I made the mistake of applying it under my nose and inhaled it haha.
Haha it’s easily done especially as none of the instructions are in English so for me it would have been guess work unless I hadn’t seen other people’s warnings in reviews
