Face Mask Friday #24 – Elizavecca Hella Pore Clean Up Mask

Elizavecca Hella Pore Mask

I can’t quite believe this is the 24th Face Mask Friday post! When I started blogging I’d barely tried any face masks and now I’ve reviewed 24, and have a cupboard of about 10 at least still waiting to be tried! The Elizavecca Hella Pore Clean Up Mask is probably one of the ones which I’ve purchased that I’ve been most eager to try out.

I was so excited in my recent mini haul of Elizavecca to have two masks to try out and I knew that this would be the first that would end up being tried. I got this partly for me (because of the pig dressed as the devil, with blackheads running away from it) and partially for Ben, who will probably not admit it to most, but he LOVES a blackhead removing pore strip more than me in my teenage years (and that was a lot!).

This mask I think is the only one that I’ve tried so far that’s a targeted, use in specific areas only kind of mask. Targeting for the use of removing blackheads, this comes from Korean brand Elizavecca – I picked this up on amazon and it was £12.50, initially that felt a little expensive, but when I realised you spend £5+ on 5 single use blackhead nose strips, actually it wasn’t that bad.

The main areas that I get blackheads are my nose and my chin. Both myself & Ben applied in both these areas… although I turned round to see Ben applying in his unshaven long stubble before I said you’re going to have to peel that off, it’s not a good idea…. (I was proved right, and his mild screams as he tried pulling it out made me laugh more than any good fiancé should admit).

The idea behind this is you leave it on for ten minutes or so for it to dry down before peeling off, the reason I don’t really enjoy those pore strips that much – besides being expensive – is that you’re only ever able to use them on your nose because of the shape. Arguably my blackheads are often worse on my chin than my nose, so I can never target the removal of these. So this paste, where I can slap it on wherever I like won a lot of interest in me. The texture of this when dry reminds me of a PVA glue where it half peels off, half kind of sticks in places and leaves a little residue behind.

Sadly I took before pictures of both myself and Ben and couldn’t notice any differences with the afters, and I asked him what he thought and he said the same. He thought it was a rubbish gimmick that didn’t work, which is odd as the reviews on amazon are largely positive for this product. Maybe it’s a dodgy batch, maybe I’ve not been brainwashed by looking into the eyes of the pig on the packaging or maybe my blackheads just aren’t bad enough. I’ll give it a couple more goes over the coming weeks and report back if my opinion changes, but for now – this product is a dud. Fingers crossed that their Carbonated Clay Face Mask is a better shout.

Have you tried the Elizavecca Hella Pore Mask?

Too bad this is not working. I tried the Elizavecca Bubble Mask and it was great, apart from the fun process, it left my skin clean, bright and refreshed. I think you will love it šŸ™‚

Shame it didn’t work, but I love the strange packaging šŸ˜„

You have great skin, that’s why you don’t see any difference! šŸ˜‰ I’ve been curious about these types of masks but to be honest, it’d just be for fun. I prefer BHA / AHA for keeping pores in check.
The packaging of the tube is so cute though!

I feel like I never notice an instant difference with ahas etc, and get satisfaction out of seeing the blackheads being pulled out on pores strips, I do maybe wonder whether the white background they have meant that they’re more visible than this charcoal colour so the few that might have been pulled out were invisible!
I now don’t wear foundation Monday to Friday for the most part any more and in the past 6 weeks have seen a massive difference in my skin for blackheads and oiliness. Ben however does get blackheads quite bad and he said there was no difference for him either!

Congrats on your hard core mask series! 24th is a big deal!!! The packaging is too cute. Too bad that the result was ‘no difference’. I love how you did the before and after photo, Rachel!!

I know, I have the 25th already scheduled for this week too! I’m going to keep retrying with the mask though, that pig is too cute to just abandon.

Aww disappointing. I also have blackhead woes on my nose and chin. There is a mew method I should be trying pretty soon, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Oh Rachael! Your nose is so free of any kinda blackheads!!!

I don’t think my camera was doing them justice – I’ve had some clogged pores since on my cheeks and it’s still not working for me. Ben definitely has worse blackheads than I do and it does nothing for him either!
