Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion – Is This Skin Magic?

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion

You know when you have a sample of a product and you immediately have low expectations of a product for various different reasons – that’s what I had with this product. I received a couple of samples from the brand when I placed a Beauty Bay order a few months ago. A toner and a cleanser which I eventually got around to trying, and I wrote a little review about them here and have found myself with the full size of the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion.

As I said in my original review the packaging of them leaves a lot to be desired it doesn’t have the feel of a company which has spent a signficant amount of time thinking about their branding and I’m itching to design new labels and logos for the product – what a graphic designer problem to have. But that’s what I think lead me to having low expectations of the product. In my original review the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion was the star of the show for me – I liked it and like with most products have little plan to actually re-buy the same product again, once it’s been reviewed I want to find something else to talk about.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion Review

The sample lasted me a good three weeks and once I’d finished it up, and tossed it in my empties pile – aftear a week my skin went from being glowing and clear to breakout city. I went online and purchased this as fast as I could and it’s been in my shower ever since, I genuinely think it is magic.

In my adult life I’ve never suffered that badly with breakouts, I tend to get a few each month due to hormone on my jawline – particularly on the right, and the odd one on my nose, chin or forehead. But since this has been apart of my regime permanently for the past 3 months, this immediately calmed my skin’s breakout down and has kept my skin clear ever since.

It’s not the best cleanser in the world given it does a dire job of removing makeup especially if it’s particularly fresh, so this is something I use in the shower 3-4 times a week as a second stage cleanse and that seems to be enough to keep. But there’s something about the ingredients within this which clearly agrees with my skin.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion Ingredients

This is a creamy lotion packed with smooth seed like beans which gently exfoliate the skin – I haven’t been using a separate exfoliator since using this, it’s enough for my skin using a few times a week. I like to apply this in the shower whilst wearing conditioner  by massaging into my skin then leaving it on whilst waiting for my conditioner as almost a mini mask.

The one annoyance – other than the labelling – that I have with this product is the lid, this is a normal screw top lid, this is calling out for a pump or a flip top cap to give a more controlled squeeze of the product. I can’t count the number of times, especially as it’s getting closer to empty – that I’ve had to shake the thick creamy formula out and too much has come out.

Mario Badescu is available in the UK from the Beauty Bay, and this cleanser retails for £12 (link here). The Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion cleanser is made in the USA and isn’t tested on Animals. Hurrah.

I’m really intriuged to try more from Mr Mario – if you’ve tried anything then please let me know any hits or misses in the line to watch out for!

This is an interesting line and it’s been hit or miss for me. But they have some fabulous products at great values that people rave about. Raved enough that I bought them. One is the glycolic toner…. I plowed my way through that bottle, I LOVED IT. And their rose water facial spray. It’s really a nice refreshing spray. I don’t know if it is really providing any benefits (don’t notice any) but it’s definitely wonderful on a hot day and gives a similar finish to makeup like Fix+
    Packaging does suck.

This looks good…although I agree about the packaging! Can’t believe it just has a screw-top lid! I have been using Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser a couple of times a week as a second cleanse and my face loves it too. 😊

Love this review I really really want to try it – £12 isn’t bad as well! I also have heard good things about his rose water facial spray x

I too got it as a sample from beauty bay and i was so sceptical at first but gave it a go and it made my skin feel so nice! my only issue with it is the smell- I really dislike it! £12 for a full sized one is so reasonable I might have to purchase it!
