What I'm Planning to Buy In Milan

It’s now a little over a week before we head to Milan, and I’ve of course been doing some research on Italian brands and what items are key within their lines. This is our first time going to Italy and most of what we’ve planned so far is food related, and I’m not going to lie I’m real excited for all the pizza and pasta above everything else. I think I’ve convinced Ben into trying vlogging whilst there so here’s hoping you’ll see snippets of our adventure!

I have to be careful with what I’m considering buying, we only have hand luggage so have to be careful over the amount of liquid I’ll be bringing back in. I think I’m going to decant some foundation, take sample sized perfumes etc, and keep liquids to an absolute minimum so I don’t have to worry about having things to bring back with me and maximise.

Like our visit to New York, we’re only in Milan for a short stay and are planning a trip out of the city too. I’m not planning on really dedicating any real time for shopping, but I’m hoping to be passing a few stores.

Catrice

I think I have a few polishes which I purchased from Catrice in a blog sale right at the beginning of when I started blogging, and they’re still sitting unused! Catrice is a big European brand which we don’t get here at all. Their products from what I know are very affordable, and have seen a few several items on Anne’s blog in the past which could easily take my fancy – especially the shadow sticks and concealer.

Pupa

Pupa is a brand which I hadn’t heard of until relatively recently. I know it’s one of the main players in the Italian makeup brand but from what I’ve seen online I’ve not seen anything that’s really taking my fancy and I think the line is relatively expensive too. I’ll be sure to take a look at them as there’s likely to be something that I see in person that impresses me, but in terms of pre-planned purchases from this brand I have none!

Kiko

I have mixed feelings about getting anything from Kiko, when I think of Italian makeup, I can’t help but think of Kiko (especially as it’s full name is Kiko Milano, so we’ll literally be in the home city of the brand). Equally Kiko is now available here, I feel like I might make a quick pit-stop into one if we’re walking past but I wont be spending any real time hunting items out in there, I can do that from the comfort of the UK!

Sephora

Having done a lot of research about what brands are available in the Italian Branch of Sephora, I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s not a lot. Basically the only brand I’m interested in is their own Sephora Collection. I may take a look at the Sephora Liquid lipsticks, I picked up one whilst in NY, and love the formula and colour so I may take a look at the others in the line. I’ve also heard good things about their own brand Gel Serum concealer having been watching Lustrelux’s youtube videos where she raves about it a lot. I’ve also been recommended their own brand eyeshadows from several people recently – there’s one shade ‘Midnight Madness’ which I’ve seen used in a tutorial and I really want to get my hands on it.

If you’ve been to Italy/Milan and can give me any more clues on the brands I should be looking at please let me know, or if there are any item’s specifically from the brands above which I need to pick up please let me know on those too.

Oh I want to buy Catrice so badly!
We have Pupa here in Canada – I’ve tried a handful of products and I haven’t been too wow’d. It’s like a much more expensive version of Kiko – to me.
I’ll be in Venice but I doubt I’ll do any shopping for makeup there. I’ll probably do more damage on the cruise ship itself! 😉 Remember, none of these purchases on vacation count toward low-buy! 😛

Haha, OH yeah that’s how you’re surviving September.
You’ always say how you want to try things from kiko, you must make a quick pitstop if you come across them! Apparently Kiko stores are on every corner basically in italy!
Glad you said that about Pupa, I’ve looked at the items and there’s basically nothing that’s taken my fancy at all!
      Is it a med cruise?

Ok, perhaps I will pop into a Kiko! I’m sure the SO would love that! 😉
Yes, this is an Eastern Mediterranean cruise! Venice, Croatia, Turkey, Greece! 🙂

By the way, the Sephora brand eye shadow singles are excellent. I have 9 of them and I really like them! I especially like the shimmer finish.

I’ve been to a few cities in Italy, but not oh-so-fashionable Milan. The shopping there must be insane. Have a great time! Italian food is amazing!
I don’t have any makeup recs, but I did love the perfumeries L’Amande and L’Erbolario, and I still kick myself for not picking up a bottle of Acqua di Parma Colonia since it’s cheaper there and sold in pharmacies.
    And leather bags! Ohhh…

I wish I had enough money for some more frivolous purchases, my damn wedding is stealing all my spare cash and doesn’t help I paid for my wedding dress this month either!
I was thinking of perfumes but I’m going to have to be so careful travelling home as we just have hand luggage, I might have to have a gander in the airport when I’m through security!
