I don’t think of myself as ever having another favourites for a monthly series so the last one I did was at the start of May, but I’ve noticed a few products which have really become standouts over the past month or so, and I thought it was time for an update! I thought I’d also include a few TV shows this time that we’ve been absolutely obsessed with too!
1. Violet Voss Drenched Metals Palette
This has probably been my favourite makeup discovery so far this year, there isn’t a shade in this palette I don’t like. There’s a few shades that are clearly showing some severe signs of love already, and the shade ‘Crushed It’ is easily my most worn at the moment, for a quick sweep across the lids for everyday! I love the mix of neutrals with brights which are so beautiful they force me to get more creative than I usually do whilst still being surprisingly wearable I’m still planning doing a post on my most worn looks from this palette but have been suffering with a suspected (although the Doctor still isn’t sure) bad bout of Gastroenteritis for 3 weeks and haven’t been feeling myself/like I want to photograph myself etc. I’m starting to feel like I’m having good days again so I’m hoping to get back to posts like this as soon as possible. I know I promised it in my first impressions, swatches and comparisons – and it’s on it’s way, I promise!
2. Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleanser
If the Violet Voss palette is my makeup discovery of the year, then the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleanser is definitely my skincare discovery. After getting a sample sized bottle of this with a Beauty Bay order, I fell in love with it and within a few weeks of finishing it up my skin started flipping out and a new bottle was ordered. This doesn’t really remove make up,
3. Benefit Gimme Brow
I’ve FINALLY found the Benefit product that works for me. I’m totally in love with this brow gel it’s the perfect shade and easy to fill in the sparser areas of my brows, I’m planning on posting a review and comparison alongside some other cheaper brow gels over the next week or so, but this is my go-to for daily use, budge proof and doesn’t go anywhere!
4. Milani Plumrose Lipstick
I recently reviewed this here, and boy oh boy I love this. It’s rare that I find a lipstick that I always that I want to stop wearing anything else, seriously I have to talk myself out of wearing this daily. It’s a perfect wearable rose shade that goes with every make up look.
5. The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Scrub
I bought three different scrubs from The Body Shop in their last haul and this is the one that went in my shower straight away – unsurprising as raspberry is one of my favourite scents. My review on this hasn’t gone up yet, hopefully it will go up this week – but clearly, spoiler alert as it’s in my favourites I already love it.
6. Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Masque
This has quickly become one of my go-to’s alongside my blue corn mask from the body shop. This does a really good job of gently exfoliating the skin due to the soft cranberry seeds, whilst also softening and brightening the skin at the same time. A bit on the pricey side compared to other masks, but you need so little of it, this giant tub will last you ages. Reviewed this relatively recently here.
7. Cougar Town
Cougar Town has been a re-discovery for us, we used to watch it 2 or 3 years ago before it disappeared from British TV, recently the whole thing came on Sky boxsets and we picked up just where we left off. It’s so, so silly and funny. We’re just a few episodes from the end and after a total binge on them, we’re watching the last few sporadically to spread them out. Imagine Courtney Cox, being as sarcastic as Chandler from friends, with a bunch of equally sarcastic friends who are all wine obsessed. That’s basically the show summary.
8. Prison Break
Prison Break is a new discovery for us. We were looking for a new show last year and ended up starting Prison Break on Netflix and never got very far into it whilst we were enjoying it. We’ve come back to it in the last 4 months or so and was totally hooked (we took a little break from it whilst we became thoroughly obsessed with Cougar Town). We’re up to season 3, and are hoping to finish it all before the latest season starts.
9. Great British Bake Off
Another TV show, and I feel semi guilty about mentioning three, but how could I not mention the return of Great British Bake Off (or as we call it in our house Go-bo-bo, thanks to the hashtag #GBBO). This is the most British TV show ever made, and if you like watching baking in a competition form where all the contestants are properly ‘British’ and not that competitive with one another, filled with innuendos, and cakes that make your mouth water, then it’s the one for you. Long live Mary Berry.
