My Little Box Mademoiselle – September 2016

The My Little Boxes in September are starting to feel synonymous with the celebration of being high on style factor to tie in with the start of Fashion Week’s throughout September. This month’s is no exception following last years with their Mademoiselle Box in collaboration with the super stylish youtuber ‘Freddy My Love’ and brand Claudie Pierlot.

This month there’s no accompanying print *sobs* but is here with the magazine with style tips for the month. Instead of a few smaller non beauty items this month, there’s one big star of the show from French label Claudie Pierlot, A beautiful envelope style wallet, with a bow detail in navy with gorgeous red edging which feels the epitome of being a Parisian colour scheme. Inside the wallet it’s pretty simple, with a few card slots tucked into the side and a zip pouch on the back, but the inside is just one large pocket. I personally wouldn’t use this as a purse as I have way too many loyalty cards – but I could see this coming in handy for travel, as it’s easily a good size to fit your passport phone and a bit of cash in, so I plan to keep this with me for when we travel to Milan at the end of the month. They label this as having a price-tag of £30, to which I raise my eyebrows a little as it doesn’t feel super high quality, but will be fine for my light intended use!

So we very quickly move into the beauty contents for the month, the first item I pulled out was a polish from Essie, whilst I’m not totally enraged to see this, equally I think this is now the third Essie polish that I’ve seen in my My Little Boxes. This is in the shade Good as Gold, which is a metallic gold with an underlying hint of bronze. This looks like it’s going to be a lovely shade going into Autumn.

Next is a sheet mask from Erborian Korean Skin Therapy, a name which I haven’t heard of before so I was intrigued to see. This is a sheet mask infused with Ginseng which is known to be soothing and moisturising, I tempted to try this out straight away as my skin seems to have turned from oily to dry over the past few weeks. This promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, give the skin a firmer and smoother feel and enhance your complexions radiance.

Last is the monthly item from My Little Beauty, this month it’s in the form of a mascara. Now I’ve had a My Little Beauty Mascara in the past and it’s one of my all time favourite ones I used, so much so they sent me another to say sorry I couldn’t buy it! So I’m looking forward to giving this a test when my eyelash extensions next need filling in as although the packaging is different the brush looks quite similar. This is described by them as the mascara for giving ‘Audacious Volume’ (NARS anyone?) which is just right up my street.

Overall it’s a good box this month – but it’s not up there with the best in my opinion. The only items I’m really excited to try is the mascara to see if it lives up to my past favourite from them. The other items I’m not offended by but I’m equally not 100% bothered by. 1. You’re probably right. I had that micellar water in an earlier box too, but it is useful, so I’m not unhappy.

I’m packing now >_< I'll think about this later. The movers will be here in the morning.

  1. That wallet is so sweet! I use a separate wallet for travel too, haha. I thought I was the only one.
That Essie polish is straight up GOLD! I bet it would look great as an accent nail or part of nail art / stamping!
Ha, yes any time I hear the word Audacious, I think of Nars now!

    1. I got a travel wallet in a my little box last year and it’s proved invaluable. I think this would be a handy little pouch to use even if it’s just to keep things like your phone and a bit of cash handy!
In this light it was straight up gold (outdoors) but indoors it has a deeper bronzey hue. Yes I think it would make a fab accent nail or something nail art related!

  2. This is my first box and I am a little disappointed 😔. The purse is ok but the name stamp on the front isn’t straight on mine. I had mascara and Cleansing water no nail polish for me. Also the little bag for the beauty products was different it had a little face on it. I usually subscribe to pink parcel but thought I would give My Little Box a go, I’m not sure I will continue with it. It’s a shame as looking over the past boxes they have been way better than this one!

    1. Oh how disappointing! I think there’s been a mistake with some boxes as I’m sure you’re meant to get 3 beauty products as a minimum each month. It’s worth getting in touch with them on Facebook as their CS is normally good!
I’ve had a rocky relationship with MLB since Christmas, it was really going downhill but the past few months have been better again. I think they’re kind of expensive for what you get now-a-days, Not sure if you’ve heard of them but Look Incredible is a little more pricey but always good value (https://helplesswhilstdrying.com/category/beauty-boxes/look-incredible/)
