7 Deadly Makeup Sins

At the start of August (that’s how scheduled I managed to be throughout August that I’ve not got near this post until now!) I was tagged my lovely blog buddy Leanne from Oh Simple Thing to do the 7 Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag.  I’m going to be quiet this weekend as one of my Best Friends, and my oldest friends is getting married, I’m going to go and enjoy every second of celebrating with her.

Greed – What is your most expensive/inexpensive make-up item?

It’s very rare now-a-days that I spend over £30 on a single makeup product and the most recent one I’ve had is the Violet Voss palette which was around the £35 mark. Saying it’s expensive though is a bit of a lie, I calculated the shadows were just over £1 each, so when you compare that to a single pan from Makeup Geek that’s anywhere from £5.50-£7.95 it’s not so expensive per shadow basis.

Inexpensive, I’ve tried lots of £1 lipsticks from different brands, there’s a multitude to chose from. I do wonder how inexpensive a lot of them are, sometimes I’ve only worn these once or twice where as a liquid lipstick from OFRA I’ll can wear 30 times – so again, how expensive is it per use!

Wrath – What product do you have a love/hate relationship with?

At the moment I would say the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation, I absolutely loved it when I purchased this and even declared it HG status in my review – but in the past few weeks I’m really struggling to get it to blend into my skin it just seems to sit on top with every pore glaring out, I seem to have gone from oily to dry in two weeks. I put it on over the weekend and I couldn’t get it to blend so I had to take it off, it seems like it’s a problem with a good chunk of my foundation collection at the moment which is incredibly annoying.

Gluttony – What brand takes up the most of your make-up collection?

This I struggle with as there’s brands which dominate certain areas, E.g I have a lot of Makeup Revolution palettes, but I have never been near their base products, where as it’s the opposite with Make Up For Ever, where I’m trying a lot of their base product but I’ve not tried anything else.

If I was picking one brand overall which I had the most from across the board I would say MAC, but I wouldn’t say it takes up the most of my collection, except for probably lipsticks.

Sloth – Which product do you neglect due to laziness?

About a year ago it would have been eyebrows. Unless I’m have time to get ready, I often can’t be bothered with concealer if I’m wearing foundation.

Pride – Which product gives you the most self confidence?

Other than my lash extensions which isn’t really a makeup product, I would probably say liquid liner, once I’ve quickly lined my eyes I feel good to go! If I haven’t got my extensions on though I would definitely say mascara, I can’t cope feeling bald.

Lust – What item is at the top of your beauty wishlist?
What isn’t on my beauty wishlist?! I’m waiting for the Violet Voss Holy Grail to come back in to stock on Beauty Bay, There’s lots I want to try from Kat Von D when it launches in Debenham’s here this month, the new Body Shop Face Masks look incredible, Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation – whenever it arrives here and I’m also tempted to get the Becca Champagne Pop Cheek Palette, as all of the shades in there look up my alley!
Envy – Which makeup look looks great on other people but not on you?
Winged liner. It just doesn’t look right on me, even on the rare occasions i try and manage to get them even I just don’t think it suits my eye shape!

I’m not going to tag any one specific for this tag, as it’s quite an old one and I can’t be bothered to go through people’s blogs to see if they’ve done it (so lazy today), but feel free to join in and let me know if you do it, I’d love to read your answers!

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever spent over £10 on a makeup product. There are so many gorgeous palettes though that I may have to untie the purse strings.

Great post, really enjoyed reading it. Made me have a think about my 7 Deadly Makeup Sins

  2. Great post! I should do it sometime, too 🙂

Argh, isn’t it frustrating when foundations go all Jekyll & Hyde?

I also neglect my eyebrows the most, which is terrible since I have, like, no eyebrows.
