My OOTS (Outfit of the Summer)

Whilst the summer has been a mix between being blisteringly hot and virtually non-existent this year – any time the sun has shown it’s face there’s been one outfit that’s been a go-to any time I’ve had an excuse. I’m celebrating the last day of August with my first OOTD.

It’s a little on the dressy side and combines a lot of my favourite colours and tones. There’s been a few occasions where I’ve worn this outfit – from my friends hen party to my engagement photoshoot (which you may have seen some of the pics of in the Welcome to the Inbetweenie Club post), and I’ll continue wearing it for as long as I can this year – and probably next. I don’t care how many pictures there are of me wearing this outfit. That’s how much I love it.

The top is actually a cropped style top with a silver zip at the back, I’m not normally a cropped cut fan… being 5ft 11 means things that aren’t meant to be cropped often end up being shorter than they should be, and a cropped cut just makes things worse. If I can think of an outfit where a cropped piece can be tucked it in, it gets my seal of approval though. Out of everything in my wardrobe this is one of my favourite pieces, I love the blurred pastel floral print of it it so much! This unfortunately was a sale score from Warehouse last year so is no longer available, although I’m constantly on the look out for something similar.

The skirt is pastel blue from New Look and is this season – they also do this in a whole host of different colours and I’m tempted to pick up another, they only have the red and black left in though. The colour of this always makes me feel like Alice in Wonderland when I wear this, and whenever I wear it I get lots of questions and compliments.

I’ve worn this both with strappy high heels for a dressed up look (I have a nude pair with pastel gemstones which match perfectly), but 90% of the time I wear it with a pair of flat sandals. My most comfy are these lace up ones from Dorothy Perkins, which because of the bright pastel shades in the top mean it doesn’t detract or become too much with all the other colours going on.

I pair with a statement necklace, there are two which tend to pick up depending on how I’m feeling. There’s this pastel one from Primark (which is years old) which I feel both clashes a little bit, but for some reason I like it or one from Accessorize which I bought for a friends wedding almost three years ago which is slightly more glitzy looking and neutral which is what I’m wearing here.

Lastly but not least the latest addition to this ensemble is this Michael Kors Jet Set East West Cross body kindly gifted to me by Tessuti, which I’ve been using exclusively for the past month. I absolutely adore this muted coral orange shade, with gold hardware. The chain strap on this transitions it to looking both casual and dressy and it’s simple square design means it both surprisingly both holds a lot of stuff, whilst remaining small and compact. It’s also got an adjustable buckle strap so whether you’re tall like me, or petite you can adjust it to being the perfect length for your body. If you’d like some more indepth thoughts and review on this bag let me know and I’ll pencil it in!

Have you had a go-to outfit this summer, or some key pieces that you’ve been loving?

Ben helped me with photography for this, so thanks Ben – but if you’re local to the Peterborough/Spalding/Boston (Or even Leicester and Nottingham) area and would like to trade help with OOTD photography drop me a line, I’d like to do more/learn and experiment with someone who is willing!

I love this outfit! That skirt is stunning. 🙂 I’m such a sucker for a flared midi skirt.

Love the look. Same height so I understand the crop top situation or crop pants! I think the coral bag is spot on. The outfit is very fresh and cool! You look great!!

I really like that top! I usually shy away from prints – I wear mostly solids and if it’s a pattern, it’s normally stripes or polka dots. High waisted skirts are so flattering – I hate the feeling on my stomach though, I always wear things on my hips but I know high waisted is better for me because I’m vertically challenged!
Ben did GREAT with the photography! Did you give you direction on how to pose or how to frame the images? Or was that all you?

We walked round the garden centre and picked spots together he helped telling me where to look!
The photos has to have some colour editing, and I cropped most of them, but he did good!
