Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara Review

Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara

I’m so glad I’m finally finding my way through my New York purchases, whilst I have been using them sporadically through the past 6 months, it’s never been a great time to photograph the bits I’ve been using and it’s been stressing me out that I’ve not got around to them. Today I’m reviewing the Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara – which is one of the two mascara purchases I made, both from Covergirl – I’ve had a longer gap than usual in waiting for my lash extensions to be refilled due to my bestie being on holiday and then wanting to wait as close to my friends wedding as possible to be squeezed in so my lashes are looking their best.

The Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara was on my list pre-arrival, as I’d asked for recommendations prior to going on what I should buy from my Canadian and US buddies and this got a mention from Stashy from me as something I should check out. The Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara is available in the UK in the form of the Max Factor Clump Defy mascara – I personally detest buying from Max Factor as it’s repackaged covergirl at a premium price due to being aimed at a target market with a a higher disposable income. The cost of this mascara was about $11.49 (about £8.50 pre brexit), in the UK this mascara is £10.99 (about $16 pre brexit).

Unlike the UK where it’s definitely easier to find non-waterproof versions of mascaras, the US it’s the other way around, so this is their water-resistant formula. The tube is a chunky bright green which is super easy to find in your makeup bag. Another thing I like about the US mascaras is that they come with the wand not in the tube for the vast majority of cases, meaning you can take an up close look at the brush. This isn’t my typical favourite type of brush, I’m normally a fan of hair bristles rather than rubber, but this is quite densely packed a mix of shorter and longer rubber bristles.

The formula of the Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara from the offset was quite dry, and over a couple of weeks I found it dried out even more to the point where I thought I was going to have to throw it away quite quickly – luckily however it’s deterioration seemed to stop, but just as a warning if you like a wetter mascara then you may not like this. Personally I always seem to prefer mascaras after a few weeks use and this one was no different.

This is the perfect level of lengthening, separating and volumising. It’s a great all rounder. Personally I find it a little bit clumpy, despite it’s name – but I enjoy the slightest bit of clumpiness in a mascara. This lasts all day long without flaking or smudging, I would say it’s water-resistant rather than waterproof, it seems to come off with rubbing under water, but it doesn’t seem to smudge or run in water prior to that.

Overall I liked the Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara quite a lot and it’s currently my go-to for letting me not feel totally naked without the extensions on. What’s your favourite mascara?

Oh I’m glad you ended up liking this more! I agree, it’s a drier formula and does seem to run out but at some point it seems to stabilize. It’s a great everyday mascara for me and the one I trust when I go travelling because it doesn’t clump on me and therefore I don’t need to carry a separate lash comb. And it doesn’t smudge at ALL. For crazy volume, I still prefer the orange tube. πŸ™‚

Great that this worked out for you! I’m currently also using this for the first time, but not having as much luck with it. I think it’s cause I had meant to buy the regular one but accidentally bought waterproof, which is too heavy for my weak, sparse lashes 😒 the non-clumping, non-flaking/smudging formula is nice, though!

I finished this mascara last week. I used it for 3 months before I decided to switch it out to a new one for hygienic reasons. I liked the mascara but I wasn’t too impressed. I love the green package tho 😍

I also quite like this mascara! I expected it to be water resistant as well when I bought it which was disappointing when I found it not to be but I still enjoy it. Great review πŸ™‚

For how often I actually need a waterproof/water-resistant mascara I’m not too bothered. At least it doesn’t budge through the day, that’s the main thing!
