The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter

The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter

I’ve said it more than once when it comes to rose fragrances on my blog I am thoroughly fussy. Rose fragrances can often get a bad rep because they’re not a true authentic rose scent, they can be sweet and sickly so I always proceed with caution when it comes to Rose scented products. When I saw the Body Shop were launching their British Rose fragrance, I had faith as all their products have smelt very true to how they’re meant to in the past, whether that’s fruity or floral everything seems to be bang on the mark when it comes to the Body Shop, so I had faith that The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter wouldn’t let me down.

I know this is controversial, but I’ve never been the biggest fan of The Body Shop Body Butters, my skin isn’t particularly dry and I’ve always found that they sit too heavy on my skin and feel a bit greasy and like there is a layer of product just sitting on top of the skin. All year I’ve been working on finishing up a tub of their Smoky Poppy one for the best part of 6 months. But there’s something about this British Rose body butter that feels inherently different to any of it’s predecessors I’ve tried in the past.

I wasn’t wrong about my thoughts that The Body Shop would create a perfect rose fragrance. They absolutely did, it’s not too heavy or in your face but reminds me of sitting on my patio with my garden roses in the distance, it’s there but not POW. Rather than just being a body butter this is an instant glow body butter, which seems to have made the formula a little lighter. It’s heavier than a body lotion, but not as heavy as their other butters and this is much more appealing to me as it doesn’t have the same greasy feel as I’ve had with others in the past.

The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter leaves a subtle healthy sheen or glow to the skin. I can imagine if you’ve spent a day in the sun and want to nourish your skin this would look incredible on the legs, arms and collarbones to brighten and illuminate the skin. Unlike the others which I’ve felt have never truly rubbed in, this one does absorb into the skin a lot better for me.

I thought originally that the Body Shop’s British Rose collection was a limited edition fragrance, although there’s been another LE scent launched since then so I can only hope that it’s here to stay. Although I wouldn’t bank on it so if you’ve been hoping to try the fragrance I’d get it whilst you still can.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of the other items from the British Rose collection, and whether you’re a body butter fan or not in the comments! Thanks for reading my review of the The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter.

This sounds great! I love rose scented anything. The glow that it gives is really nice as well! Might have to pick this up! 🙂

In the wide world of body butters, I wouldn’t say Boday Shop makes my favourite either. I seem to like the spendy ones like Kiehl’s or Biotherm!
The only item I got from the British Rose collection was the nail polish! 😛

I never feel like I can warrant spending a lot of money on a Body Butter given my skin isn’t that dry! I love the scent of Creme de Corps but I feel like £40 is totally too much for how much my body actually needs it! And of all the things I like to treat myself with, body butters not one of them!
