If you saw my post on thoughts on wearing lash extensions then you’ll already know that I don’t crack open the mascara all that much very often. Last week I was awaiting a top up and fill in appointment and I found the three days before I had to crack out the mascara collection to tie me over. The Givenchy Couture Noir Mascara was what I reached for.
I received this mini sized mascara a few months ago in a My Little Box and have used it a handful of times so far. The Mascara tube almost looks studded, it reminds me a lot of the Kat Von D studded lipsticks (I don’t have one to compare) but it’s certainly an eye catching tube.
Opening it up for the first time I was excited, it’s exactly the sort of wand I like to see – thick and bristley. This one has an hourglass shape going towards being more tapered towards the end – for the most part I find this shaped wand the easiest to work with. You can get right into the corners whilst adding lots of volume and curl.
I think this mascara might divide opinion as to whether you like it or not. It’s goes on very easily and is thick so quickly builds up volume as well as being very lengthening too. It’s very black and I’ve found it wears pretty well – I tend to get a bit of smudging under the eye at the 10 hour mark, but other than that it doesn’t really flake at all.
It all depends how you like the look of your lashes but it does have a little bit of a clumpy effect to the lash. I don’t think that’s necessarily helped in my pictures below by the fact I do have a few stray lash extenisons on and the wya they angle when you put any mascara on I’ve always found has made them look clumpier than if you did not have them on.
Overall I like this – but I don’t love it as much as other high end mascara’s that I’ve tried. For me it doesn’t rival Too Faced Better Than Sex or the Lancome Hypnose Drama that have been previous favourites of mine (but no longer buy because of extensions). The wear time is good – and actually I really like the look this gives on the bottom lashes – I might start pulling this out every day for those!
Have you tried the Givenchy Couture Noir Mascara?

Thanks Kathy!
Oh NO no no. This is the epitome of spidery lashes! This is how my lashes look if I use those L’Oreal Miss Manga mascaras – ick!
