BKLYN Luxury Bobble Hat Review

BKLYN Luxury Bobble Hat Review

When I was invited to try a bobble hat from the new luxury accessories brand BRKLYN, I jumped at the chance. In winter hats are a must for me for dog walks on cold and dreary days and I’ll admit that I haven’t really got the most fashion forward selection – thinking practicality over pretty, but no longer do the two have to be mutually exclusive in my collection.

Whilst we are now in summer – British summer of course does not always play by the rules, and I have been able to wear this hat on a few dog walks despite the fact it’s June! Arriving in it’s own little cardboard box to keep it safe, and also makes nice presentation should you want to give it as a gift. Of course the day I decided to photograph this was the warmest and most humid day of the year so far, when my hair was getting bigger by the minute…

One thing I always worry about when buying a luxury knitwear product is how likely the wool is to snag and have pulls in it. It’s annoying enough getting snag in a £20 jumper, but you definitely don’t want that to be the case with a much more expensive hat. Made of Merino Wool, the knit on this feels dense and not loose or delicate – whilst being dense it’s thin cable knit form means it’s not too heavy and making your head look massive.

I was sent one of their Bobble hats in a soft blue shade adorned with a racoon coloured bobble. These hats and bobbles come in just about every colour combination you can imagine, if you want a burnt orange hat with a purple bobble – you can get it on BRKLYN. When I looked at the pictures of these online the bobbles did look large and fluffy, but they don’t do it justice to just how soft and pretty they are in person. The pom pom almost has a floaty quality to it it’s so light in texture, despite it’s whopping size at almost 20cm.

The bobble is also detachable, so should you want to build a collection and mix and match the bobble colours you can. One thing that’s not available is just buying the extra bobbles / extra hats. That in my opinion would be a great idea for future expansion.

Priced at £55, these are undeniably a premium, but if you like to spend your money on accessories and wear hats like these often or want to invest – you won’t be disappointed in the quality when it comes to these.

You can take a look at the range of hats if you’re interested in buying/browsing here.

*Please Note* – I was not aware as I was reviewing this hat that the bobble is made from Raccoon fur, and at the time couldn’t spot this on the website, nor was this highlighted in the opportunity to review. This is the only first and last time you will ever find on my blog ever featuring fur, and I apologise to everyone for featuring it.

Do you like to invest in luxury accessories, or do you like to buy budget?

I am loving bobble hats this year! I have always thought I they would look silly on me in the past but I picked up a navy blue a few months back and I love it! I haven’t had the chance to wear it yet though as it hasn’t been cold enough this winter yet 🙁 there’s something weirdly wrong with that sentence haha! I love this light blue one and it looks lovely on you Rachael x

This is so cute – I love the colour and how adorable is the bobble! Typical that you’ve still been able to wear it a few times despite it being June!

I’ve received one of these to review but sending it back, I don’t know if you know but it’s real fur? Not sure if you’re against that or not but you didn’t seem to mention it in your review & just wanted to let you know. ❤

Ahh Man! I suspected it was but when I went on the website I couldn’t find anything to say it was fur, I can now see there’s been a bit that’s been updated to when I looked at it a few weeks ago. I’ll update my post, wouldn’t have reviewed if if I’d known 🙁

Nah they didn’t and they were super short with me when I told them I was returning it too. Not a company I’d want to work with regardless of fur or not haha. Xxx

Lovely review – they’ve just contacted me about reviewing one too and until I read this I didn’t know either about it being real fur. It’s not easy to find the info on their website is it. Just emailed them to say I won’t be reviewing it. Shame because it does look a lovely hat. I don’t know why these companies still use real fur – there is no need.
    I’m loving your blog btw!

Thanks Heather, yes I agree and there’s no information page on it to let you know if it’s a cruelty free method etc to give you more info – I only found out and updated it yesterday, you found this just in time!

They got back in touch and said they do faux ones too… I’ve agreed to do the review with the faux one, but I am really confused now about it all! Hopefully it is faux!! xx
