Look Incredible Box June 2016

As always, I’ve been itching for this box to arrive this month, it seemed to take a little longer than normal this month, or maybe I just become more anticipated for it’s arrival.

Disappointedly I think June’s Look Incredible Box has been the one that so far I’ve felt most ‘meh’ about – with only one product that I’m really itching to use this month. That being said it’s still a great box – it’s just my least favourite out of those that I have received so far.

For those who have not yet become familiar with Look Incredible – the box features a minimum of 5 full size products each month, mostly from high-end brands too. This is my fifth box and so far I’ve seen items from BareMinerals, MAC, OPI, Smashbox and NARS to name just a few. The box is priced at £21.99 including delivery so is more premium compared to the likes of Birchbox, but for me I’d much prefer to pay for a box which offers five full size items than the usual box of samples you get for £12.99 from Birchbox. The also offer a luxury box priced at £35 which I have considered upgrading to, but overall I don’t really think the brands or value is that different compared one to the other. Maybe if I do end up unsubbing from My Little box I’ll end up trying it, but for now I’ll stick with the £21.99 version.

Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Kitten – £16

I’m half excited by this, half not. Luminizers are products which I don’t really use, I’ve tried them in the past but overall with an oily skin I find that with a matte foundation my skin has the right level of natural shine and glow. In Stila’s most popular shade that transitions across the line ‘Kitten’ this is a thick gold based shimmer, testing on my hand it does make the skin look undetectably pretty and iridescent, the kind of effect you expect from hourglass with that soft focus blended look. I think this would look sick with a tan, so I may actually keep this by as product for highlighting the body like the collarbones when I go on holiday, I’ll also give it a go mixed into foundation as intended, but I know ultimately it’s probably not a product that will fall into routine with me.

Ciate Colourfoil Manicure Set – £16

In all fairness I may have been more excited about this product if I didn’t already own it. I find the £16 price tag that they’ve put on this a little steep – maybe originally yes they were that price, but I picked this up over 2 years ago and it was one of my first ever reviews! The price then was £4-5, and I’ve seen it in my local CCO ever since at that price – clearly another out of trend nail product (like the OPI Shatter Polish in April) that brands are trying to shift. I opened this up quickly to take a look and it looks like the glue in here is all dried up – so I’ll email them and see if they’ll replace, it’ll go in my future giveaway box if so.

Velvet 59 Matte to the Max Liquid Lipstick in Cadillac – £17

I’d heard of the brand Velvet 59 before but didn’t really know anything about the product line up. According to the card it’s a liquid lipstick with a matte finish set to give starlet glamour, and is also totally vegan friendly. Also infused with oils and vitamins whilst also being a matte finish it’s supposed to nourish as you wear it. This colour is really, really not me – and feels again like a bit of a colour which is out of trend at the moment, these baby pinks that were the hot colour 5/6 years ago have been replaced with nudes. Not only that but a swatch on my hand shows it takes ages to dry down to actually being matte. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt for a review, I’d probably have liked it more if the colour was more me.

No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara – £11.50

No7 is a brand that for some reason never calls to me, the line is very ‘classic’ and with very few limited edition collection and very small ones when they do – I think it’s just a brand that I always skim over. The reason I’m more disappointed with this is the third mascara that I’ve received in 5 months of subscriptions to the box – all of which are still unused.

The Body Shop Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay – £16

I was saving the best ’til last in my opinion. From the relatively recent (I think at the end of last year) Spa of the World Collection which is priced slightly more at the premium end compared to the Body Shop’s normal collection – I’ve been waiting for what feels like months for some of those items to make their way into my local Body Shop which is an outlet – there’s always a bit of a lag before LE and new collections reach the outlet. Rhassoul clay is described as being a treasured ingredient by Moroccan women for it’s skin firming powers, by its ability to absorb excess water and oil as it dries and leaves the skin feeling firmer.

Swatches

Left – Stila Kitten Luminizer blended and sheered out
Middle – Stila Kitten Luminizer left opaque
Right – Velvet 59 Matte to the Max Cadiallac

So overall this month I’m only really excited about The Body Shop clay, kind of excited about the Stila – everything else I would totally skip on.

Hesitating over whether or not to invest in a look incredible box, so this is helpful. I feel like the make-up could be tricky as its very a personal, but the body/ hair cosmetics would be really exciting to discover every month!

Take a look at the last posts if you haven’t already seen them, for the most part the colours have been pretty neutral to suit anybody – In other boxes I’ve had orange eyeliners etc and it’s definitely way more wearable in comparison. Don’t think this one in particular is the best reflection of the box so far – but you won’t get this box if you subscribe, you’re always on sign up subbing for the following month.

I agree with you on the value part. I still can’t decide on the MLB. It is really awkward. Pity that you already have the manicure set, better luck next time 😉

O no~~ I have received mine yesterday. 😄 I hope you’ll get yours soon, Rachael. Look forward to read your post on it 😀

Aw 😣 sorbet, so will you drop the subs next month? You had lots of MLB already. The incredible box is giving you more thrills it seems? 😉

          • June 10, 2016 / 11:18 am

I think one more month for me before I bite the bullet and cut it – I’ve said that for ages though! Yes just think it’s better value!

Lol. I keep reading to see what you’ll do 😀

It’s a shame you didn’t like this one as much. I also feel like sometimes the boxes will include products that were popular a few years back with an impressive additive to the actual value. It’s a shame and a bit insulting when thy just do that to purely raise the value of the box. But oh well, all of them do that. I do agree, I liked your previous boxes better. Enjoyed reading this though, as always xxx

Yes – sometimes it can be a bit insulting – I don’t know for how many years I’ve been able to find OPI shatter polishes in poundland for, so I don’t know why there would be an £8 price tag on it for example! Same with how My Little Box labels their own lifestyle products as being worth £15 – for a vest top you’d pay £2 for in Primark!

Kitten looks pretty and I love the shade of that liquid lipstick but it reminds me of candyfloss haha. The Body Shop mask sounds nice too!

    • June 10, 2016 / 1:47 pm

I think I’d like the liquid lipstick colour for a polish, i just know it’s too pale for my skin tone and would looks really barbieish on me 😭 can’t wait to try the mask!

      • June 10, 2016 / 1:57 pm

I think it would look Barbie on me and I’m extremely pale. That being said, I would give it a go 😛 x

I’m with you on luminizing products – I prefer to put highlighting product at specific locations on my face rather than all over which may look greasy. It’s a good idea to use that for the body though.
Sucks the Ciate product is 1) something you already owned 2) all dried up. I hope they’ll send you something different!
I like trying out new mascaras – if they’re duds I just toss them. Do you usually just have 1 mascara open at a time?
So how do you use that body clay product… like a treatment to rinse off? Or it’s a body lotion?

    • June 10, 2016 / 9:58 pm

I do, but at the moment I have eyelash extensions on so I don’t even need to use them! I seriously have about 10 mascaras I have to use! Yes it’s a charcoal colour so wash on – I think in the shower like a Nivea in shower moisturiser – not sure though haven’t read the instructions!

      • June 11, 2016 / 2:25 pm

Lots of Japanese girls have lash extensions and I’m half tempted to get them. But I heard you have to be really careful about removing your eye makeup and you can’t use waterproof eye makeup remover or else it’ll melt the glue – is that right?

        • June 11, 2016 / 2:38 pm

I stick with a Micellar water and it’s always been fine, will confirm with my bestie as she does mine for me – I know you have to stay away with products that are oil based though, I normally do around my eyes so not a big deal for me!

Intrigued by that clay body mask from body shop. That sounds amazing. The rest of the box isn’t that exciting, it is all nice enough but given the more premium price I expected a little more.

Massively disappointed with this month’s box! Wtf is that lipstick colour? It will not suit at least 90% of women. They clearly just needed to shift these 🙁

As for the other products, meh!

    I hope this isn’t the start of a downward slide… 🙁

Great review though, keep it up 😊😊

    • June 11, 2016 / 12:56 pm

Thanks Kat! Yeah strong start from look incredible, like you say I hope they haven’t got bigger than then could cope with to continue with the same quality of products! Fingers crossed for a better month in July! X
