Beauty #TBT – NARS Sherwood Polish – Swatch & Review

It’s been a little while since I’ve managed to get a beauty TBT post up… I’m sorry, I’m sorry I know you guys seem to love them but have ran out of prepared ideas! Whilst NARS’ Sherwood Nail Polish is totally new to me, it’s a piece from their 2014 Christmas Collection, so it was a bit of a score when I found it lingering in TK Maxx last month.

I was sure when I opened the box for Sherwood I was going to find a forest green polish inside, but boy was I wrong! Depending on the light this catches it it can switch between being a dusky plum to a mauvey brown. In the bottle this has a both a duo chrome effect which doesn’t quite translate to the nail and a metallic base and shimmer. I’m not big on metallic shades, I normally prefer creams and glitters, so I was surprised last week to find myself using this not once but twice.

This is my first NARS polish and I must say I’m impressed with the formula – which for a polish which comes normally with a £15 price tag is a good thing. With one coat this is almost opaque but not quite – a second leaves the nail fully opaque and with a fairly glossy finish too – not gel like, but I actually didn’t feel the need to reach for a topcoat either. Whilst this shade doesn’t chip very easily, I found myself wearing this 4 days chip free with no base or topcoat – it also seemed to remove strangely easily, I seriously don’t think I’ve ever had a polish which has essentially slipped off as immediately when the nail polish remover touches it.

You may be wondering whether the square cap houses a smaller, easier to hold one and I’m pleased to say that it does. Although I must say I don’t love the ultra grooved one that comes on the NARS ones – it’s not as comfortable to hold and grip onto – but I’ll take that over a damn chunky square.

I’m tempted to pass the NARS Sherwood Polish onto my Mum, whilst she doesn’t tend to wear polishes all that often, when I think of her colours, I think this is one she’ll love! Unless there was a specific unusual shade in a collection – or of course I find them for mere pennies in TK Maxx, I’m not sure that I would necessarily be heading to NARS as my first port of call for polishes, however I am convinced enough by the formula of the two I’ve picked up (the other review is still to come!) to try them again, should an unusual shade come up on my radar.

Sadly of course being a 18 month old Christmas LE item you’re unlikely to come across this – but if you do snap it up!

Have you tried any NARS polishes? Let me know in the comments if there’s any I should be checking out.

The colour is beautiful, glad the formula was a good’un!

Gorgeous color! I am not a huge fan of metallics, either (creams forevah!), but some are just stunning. Your mom’s a lucky one if you do pass it on to her.

Great colour! I haven’t tried any NARS nail polishes, I usually just stick to the drugstore. Glad to hear this one is worth the price tag though!

I really like this shade. I like how it goes from brown to purple depending on the lighting/angle – very unique!
