Meet Charlie

Meet Charlie

A week earlier than initially planned we picked up our new pup that I told you about a few weeks ago. At 3pm on Saturday we were off to visit our pooch in prep for picking him up this Saturday, by 4.15 we were in our car on the way home still with no agreed upon name. In short the breeder was starting to be a bit of a knob, so we decided to bring him home where we thought he would be better loved and looked after.

Charlie had been a name that had been both mine and Ben’s back up name – he wanted Kylo, I wanted Smudge – but we settled on Charlie as we both did like the name, and neither of us were budging on coming round to each other’s first choices!

I’d planned to get myself organised this weekend for the next few weeks ahead as I know I’ll have less time in the evenings for a few weeks and I didn’t managed to do that due to life’s little curveball so you’ll have to bare with me this week and probably next. This coming Bank Holiday I have my best friends wedding, I’m starting to review a new online personal training programme this week too so expect to see a few post reschedules to fill the gaps in the meantime over the next week if I don’t get caught up.

I do however have a week off in two weeks time to spend at home with Charlie so I can hopefully get myself really organised and caught up in that time. I have 60 draft posts of edited pictures edited awaiting reviews – or reviews waiting pictures!  During this week I’m also hope to film my first youtube videos, I’m thinking a Pet Tag, and my April Empties which I still haven’t sorted out the pile of 40 products sat in a bag (plus any additional from this month have been added)! Maybe a different format to normal though, maybe a flops and a favourites split as the video might be very very long talking about 40+ products. Any other video suggestions please let me know!

I do have the long awaited Kiehl’s Creamy Eye with Avocado review finally going up tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Ahhh cuteness! I’m glad you chose the name Charlie! <3
I'm curious, what happened with the breeder that you had to take Charlie home earlier than planned?!
Enjoy your bonding time with Charlie! I hope Dexter is enjoying his new playmate too.

    • Ready for a long one?!

Recently a new law has been bought in here to say that Dogs have to now be legally microchipped and done before 8 weeks old, and vaccinated. He’d been saying for weeks he was going to get this done and just hadn’t done it and the 8 week mark had hit. We were meant to be picking him up at 9 weeks as we both had a week one after the other off work to make sure he was settled – we knew we’d get to this Saturday and he still wouldn’t have been sorted. We’d agreed to pay more in the deposit initially to show we weren’t messing him about but he kept saying he wanted more money paid from us and we hadn’t got the dog, nor had he done what he should have legally done. I didn’t feel comfortable giving him such a large chunk of money and we didn’t even have the dog yet or actually trust him to do what he should of!

He was the last puppy left as all the others in the litter had gone, he was being kept mostly away from the mother so he wasn’t attached so was settled to being alone already. So we decided to give him the full amount and took the dog, he didn’t have the best interest of him at heart as he initially came across as doing… luckily our vet sorted the situation out vaccination and chipping straight away he had a health check and was all good!

Despite all this he’s settled really well and is a really happy, healthy and playful dog, as he’s getting more bouncy Dexter is also warming up to him more too initially he was looking at us a bit like WTF have you done. can’t wait to have a week off with him them week after next and he better start sitting still long enough for some pictures as he’s such a jiffler and has a natural want to sit behind you if you’re standing not in front or next to – not great for pictures!

Oh you definitely did the right thing! He didn’t sound like an honest guy… who knows how many other people he promised the puppy to? I get super angry when people don’t microchip their pets!!! I once found a declawed cat hanging outside of my place in the rain – cold, starved and defenseless. No collar. I took him in over the weekend and went to the vet on Monday morning to scan his microchip. He didn’t have one! I ended up keeping him for a short time until he got adopted by a friend (I couldn’t keep him because I’m allergic – he was the sweetest cat too).
I’m glad Dexter is warming up to him, it’s always a challenge to bring a rambunctious puppy into the house! Those sharp teeth… and lack of boundaries! 😛

        • His teeth are Killer, I can not describe what little daggers they are, they’re so much sharper than Dexter’s ever was. Charlie is already showing dex up at being a better listener, he follows you around and waits for you, dex literally could not give a shit his timescale, his rules! I think Dex was a bit unsure at the start because Charlie was slow and snoozy, but in 3 days he runs around everywhere like a rocket and Dexter is much more sure of him now. He likes the crazy version clearly!

We had receipts for everything we’d paid, had been there 3 times so I don’t think he would of messed with us… but we didn’t want to risk him getting annoyed we wouldn’t give him more money so thought it would be a better option!

There’s been a bit of uproar here about it ‘Big Brother State’ and all that – but I don’t understand if someone found your pet you wouldn’t want them to get back to you… and it’s not fricking GPS it’s bloody contact information they don’t know where your pet is… or do they!
