Admitting Defeat, Finally On Facebook & New Blog Layout

I’ve put off doing this, setting up a facebook account was something that I’ve avoided for months and months, but it’s come to the point where I’ve had the opportunity to work with a few brands and they’ve been ridiculously switched off because I don’t have a Facebook page.

I’d really appreciate it if you headed over to the page linked below and gave it a little like, it will be a place that you’re able to keep up with all my posts. I promise not to spam you!

If you fancy it I’m also on Pinterest (mainly wedding obsessed at the moment, sorry!), Twitter and Instagram. I’m also on Tumblr, which is just something that exists to get my posts on another platform, I don’t use it!

One of the things I love about the community we’re in is that we’re supportive of each other so If you have a facebook/twitter/instagram accounts I’ll be more than happy to repay the favour, paste your usernames/urls in the comments and I’ll follow you back!

I’ve also changed up my header/logo, again. I’ll never be 100% happy, font geek over here who has a new fave font every few minutes in addition I’ve changed my blogs layout and it’s looking so much better, I’ve not been happy with Sela for a while and this one is much better. This time I’ve gone premium and it’s much more what I’ve been wanting to get to!

I think Facebook is one of the more difficult platforms for bloggers to build a following. It’s great to have all your posts in one place though ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve liked your page too!

Looking good! ๐Ÿ˜€ As a web designer it’s probably extra tough for you to be happy with what you’ve chosen!

    • Yeah I’m used to changing up my style at work so frequently it means I can’t help but want to change it up for my blog too. Favourites constantly change! I’d been looking to go self hosted to get the layout I wanted but didn’t really want to – and now I’ve got what I was after after 6 months of searching for the perfect theme!

Adding a new social platform can be super stressful! Coming up with different content for all of them is a lot of work! I finally bit the bullet in October and created a FB page, surprisingly, it’s turned out to be my biggest traffic driver – which is great! I’ll be sure to like your page! You can find mine here: https://www.facebook.com/AmandaBellaBlog/

    Good luck girlie!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Haha, I have the exact same theme sitting in my basket for a month or so now, still thinking if I will buy the theme or go self-hosted. Cannot decide, really should though, don’t want it to sit there for another 2! ๐Ÿ™‚ Are you happy with it so far? xxx

    • So far yes, there’s things about it I wish I could tweak, but tweaking is all that’s needed – it’s much closer to what I wanted!
There’s lots of benefits to going self hosted – all the plug ins, themes – but you’re a step away from the wordpress community, it’s hard for people who’ve followed you to comment each time. I think I’ll decide over the next year what to do, it’s been over two on this platform and tbh I haven’t really got time to go self hosted with new puppy in 2 weeks and a wedding to plan!

Definitely doesn’t sound like the right!
I wish they gave us a bit more freedom to tweak the themes without paying extra, that would be nice. . In a perfect kind of world ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been really liking the theme as I spend hours and hours looking for something simplistic but pleasing. Still don’t want to bite the bullet in case I want to pay for the blue host instead. Uh, decisions. ๐Ÿค”
Why is it hard for people to comment, I thought you have the same access to the community? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

        • If they’re already following you then your posts will come up in the reader. But the comments section isn’t linked up like it is in wordpress, people will have to enter email addresses/websites/name separately (some commenting systems do allow that to be stored once you’ve logged in once), but it’s just annoying for most I think. I was talking to one of my friends and we both said we don’t read or comment on some blogs anymore because it’s more difficult to do it quickly!

Oh I know what you mean now. Was not aware that this happens on .org. Will definitely have to take that into consideration. Thank you ๐ŸŒธ

          • No problem, it’s annoying – once you’ve built up a little community of loyal followers then it’s not easy for them to continue doing so. That’s the only thing that’s really stopped me doing it.

I’ve just started so I feel like sooner is better than later but I still have my doubts about it. I would love the plug ins but some of the disadvantageous might be a bit too much, especially considering you pay for them!

Whoa, your site got an overhaul! Looks great! I like this theme a lot especially the header and comment section. I still haven’t found a premium theme that I am willing to fork over moolah for yet.
I’m such a Facebook noob. I should download the app.

    • Thank you, I’d been eyeing a very similar theme for going self hosted so thought this’ll do far less hassle for now, got enough on my plate without adding moving to self hosted onto it! The conversion rate was a bit better for me today so it worked out a few quid cheaper than it would have done so thought I may as well so it now! I like that it has a social section at the top, that’s been one of my main bug bears with my old theme that everything was so hidden! This has things like that in much easier access!
