I don’t very often review the products that I get in My Love Me Beauty box – I’m always torn because we can’t actually buy the range in the UK – so you’re stuck with the products you can get in the box – My Little Beauty have been promising that they’re looking into shipping beauty orders of their to the UK pretty much since I first subbed with them, over 18 months ago now. But with a face mask series going strong – now on review number 17, I couldn’t not feature it!
The My Little Beauty Rosee Du Matin Masque is described as being a detoxifying mask for ‘Rosy Mornings’ which is also designed to moisturise and smooth the skin. All sounds positively delightful. This has a different kind of texture to any mask that I’ve tried since I started blogging – possibly ever, I can’t actually recall anything similar. The texture of it looks quite thick, with peppered black specks that kind of remind me of a nice vanilla ice cream. (Now I’m getting hungry!). There’s a slight *I think* floral, maybe fruity (it’s hard to tell it’s so faint) scent to it, but it’s certainly not obtrusive enough to feel like you’ve been smacked in the face with a bouquet of flowers… or bowl of fruit!
Whilst this looks quite thick when you begin rubbing this into the skin it becomes much thinner than I expected – it feels like a light creamy consistency which after about 10 minutes or so settles down and dries into the skin like a clay, it doesn’t quite give you a full on white matte ghost face as it’s a little sheerer, but your postie would still definitely think you’re a weirdo opening the door like this.
This is described as a morning mask needing about 10 minutes on the skin, personally I don’t feel like I get the benefits fully – the mask has barely dried down by that time and I love the feeling of a dry face mask on my face, let me know in the comments if you do too so I don’t feel too weird!
Whilst it does leave the skin soft and smooth after rinsing away the mask with water, I think the effects of it are mostly false. From what I can tell it seems to leave an undetectable to the eye coating on the skin which feels really smooth – the only way I can describe it is like a ceramic slip, hopefully some people who took GCSE art know what I mean, haha! But once you’ve washed your face properly if you add a cleanser or decide to clear up your skin after with a micellar water (which is how I discovered this was the effect it had on my skin) that soft, smooth effect washes away.
I don’t know 100% what I make of this, from what I can tell it offers my skin no lasting benefits, whilst it does on a very temporary basis make it soft and smooth. I’m not 100% sure I like the idea of a mask leaving a coating on my face, especially if it’s not actually doing anything.
