Love Me Beauty – April 2016

Guess, who’s back, back again – Love Me Beauty is back, tell a friend! When I unsubbed from Love Me Beauty in December I said I was going to keep an eye on  the service for a refresh of brands and products and I have been keeping an eye on the box monthly and I must say the product selection has stayed very similar every month.

This month I spied a special brand in the box, Make Up For Ever – which is just about unheard of in beauty boxes and I’ve never seen it featured in any UK boxes. I looked at the products at the start of the month and thought, I won’t bother they’ll be tiny samples – but actually when I saw someones unboxing I noticed they were pretty generous, and as there was one product in here I’d been eyeing for ages I decided to give it a go. Only to discover they’d ran out of samples of what I wanted most. Grrr, but a few days later they said they’d restocked the items so I headed over the website straight away and chose what I wanted.

For those who don’t know Love Me Beauty works on a credits based system where you pick the items you want, some are 10 Credits, 20 Credits and in this case the first time I’d seen 25 Credit items on Love Me Beauty. With 60 Credits to spend It meant I couldn’t quite get 3 MUFE items, but there was an option to buy extra credits I almost did that but decided I didn’t really need the other two items as much, where as the other two had been on  my list to try.

One thing that was really disappointing was that there’s clearly been a change since I was last subscribed. When I first signed up the boxes were sparkly with rose gold lettering, they felt super luxe and special arriving each month. They then downgraded to either canvas bag, which I was upset about, then put it back into a box which was less nice. These items were just shoved in a jiffy bag with no explanation of where it had even come from, when I saw beauty products in a bubble wrap bag I was genuinely confused at what had been sent to me. Considering I subscribe to these boxes for a monthly treat something about this felt inherently un-special.

First up I picked the Make Up For Ever HD Powder (25 Credits) (Full Size – Debenhams £22 8g,  – Sample Size 4g worth £11 )this has been on my hit list for a while as I’ve heard great things about it so I couldn’t resist getting this at a time when I could try it for a fraction of the price!

Next was the Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer (25 Credits) (Sample Size 15ml – £13 on Debenhams for this size) I’ve actually noticed I’m starting to run low on my primer stash and I’ve heard positive things about this in the past so it went straight in my basket too!

I used my last 10 credits up on the Melvita Orange Blossom Floral water, to be honest it was either this for 10 credits or an argan oil and I’ve learnt that I have loads of oils when I’ve collected and organised my stash this month so I chose this over that, but I probably wouldn’t have picked this up if there was another choice.

Other MUFE items were a sample of the excessive lash mascara which I’ve heard both hit/miss reviews about with about 10 mascaras in my to be reviewed stash I decided to skip this. They also had the Aqua XL Eye Pencil which I’ve heard really good things about, but I rarely use a pencil liner any more and I do have a Marc Jacobs one I really like so decided to skip that, but if I could have got a third item from MUFE I would have picked that out.

Should you want to subscribe, I’m not sure whether there’s any MUFE items left in the boutique, use the code ‘RACHA549’ which will give you extra credits in your first box, I’m unsure exactly how many – you might be able to get 3 MUFE items if available! I wish I’d looked for a code when I signed up! One thing to note is that you can log in and see what’s available before choosing whether to order, and new items products start to trickle in to the boutique at the start of each month.

I have immediately unsubbed from Love Me Beauty again – I’ll still keep my eye on the service and if I spot any great deals like this every now and again I’ll inform you as soon as I can!

It should have come in a zip up black makeup bag! How rude that it was just dumped in a jiffy bag! I got the primer and mascara plus a Dr Lipp balm. It seems great however if the products stay the same each month I may be unsubscribing too.x

I felt after a year, I was subbed from January-December last year that you see nails inc every month, and there’s lots of other brands that repeat themselves too! I think it’s good for the first few months but after that you see the cycle go round. I also felt like I could get a lot more for my credits at the start, now it seems a bit more stingey!

Nice score on the MUFE stuff! That powder will last you ages.
Melvita is a brand I always mean to try but I’ve not seen it sold anywhere here locally. I might have to buy it online.

The only times I’ve tried Melvita is through this box, I’ve not seen it locally here either. It will, I’m forcing myself not to try it as I have two other powders I’ve almost used up. Once they’ve gone I can start this, I can already tell I won’t want to reach for the others once I’ve started on this!

That is a shame about the packaging! Packaging is half the experience!!
