Collab: My Makeup Brush Collection

Makeup Brush Collection

My Makeup Brush Collection is ever growing and I’ve always got a gap to fill in my collection, however the fact that both my brush holders are now pretty much at capacity means that I should be starting to scale back, but instead I’m looking for a new storage solution! Today I’m collab’ing with the gorgeous Valentina from Valentina Sofia to show you or brush collections, if you’re not already subscribed to her, what are you doing head over here now and sub. Do come back and read my post though!

I haven’t actually counted, but I believe I have somewhere in the region of 60 brushes – talking through my Makeup Brush Collection individually would mean we’re here all week, so instead I thought I’d show you every brush, and talk through some of my favorites at the end which are the ones which I reach for every day without fail. I’ve also included the beauty blender esque products that I have – whilst not a brush, they do replace the job of a brush.

FAVOURITES

Quo Blending Sponge: Kind of worries me just how much I like this sponge, I won it in Stash Matter’s giveaway and it’s above and beyond the one I now reach for the most. it has a light and bouncy texture, this has worked well with just about every foundation I’ve tried it with. We can’t get it here which is why it worries me how much I like it. I might need to pay someone to send me a stash of them because it’s already got a few little tears starting to appear!

Wilko Premium Powder Brush – A Brush from Wilko (a cheap homeware shop), that was only £4 wasn’t by all accounts meant to be something I reach for as often as I do. This is dense and great for quickly powdering all over the face post foundation.

Becca Powder/Bronzer 16 – when you first wash this brush it looks crazy (as it does here) I love this brush for blending together highlight/blush and bronzer and making the 3 seamless. If I don’t have other brushes to hand, or I’m trying to pack light I’ll take this as my only powder brush.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Angled Powder Brush – Not what you’d think I’d like to apply my contour, but I love this in the cheekbones with a bronzer to create a really soft and natural contour.

Real Techniques Multi-task brush is a great brush for highlight, it’s soft and not too dense which creates a really natural look that’s not over the top.

Real Techniques Blush Brush is the brush of choice for reaching for every single day. This is easily the blusher brush which gets the most use and I’m considering picking up a second, so I can use more than one colour between washing rather than being stuck with the same colour until I manage to clean them!

Becca Eye Define Brushes are great, they’re great for packing colour onto the lid as well as working colour into the crease and smudging out well.

Sephora Buffing Brush is great for when I want a really defined contour look, I use this to pack colour onto my cheek bones before blending it out with the big fluffy becca brush

Lamora Blending Brush is my favourite for blending and need to buy another set so I can have more than one of these on the go at the same time, closely followed by Boots blending brush d which I really like the shape of for really softening the edges out whilst it’s not the softest on the lid.

Let me know some of your most loved brushes in the comments below, like I said I’m always adding to my brush collection so I’m interested to hear your favourites! I hope you enjoyed reading my Makeup Brush Collection!

Real Techniques brushes are so nice and so affordable!! I also really like eco tools – their brushes are so soft 🙂

You’ve reminded me I do have one eco tools brush I forgot to include here, whoops! Other than the one big, fluffy contour brush I have I’ve never tried anything else but I have heard good things I’ll have to take a look 🙂 xx

Great post! So many great brushes. I am so keen to try the RT Bold Metals range, do you think they’re worth the extra money? xx

It’s hard to say, personally I don’t think the quality of them is really any better over the other, but what they’ve done is savvy – shapes of the brushes etc are exclusive to the Bold Metals range and there’s not really equivalents in the regular range if you want a specific brush you have to get it from bold metals range. They are the most gorgeous brushes though so they do win some points there!

So jealous! You have so many brushes! I really want to get more but the nice ones are so expensive 🙁

I used to have a few more MAC brushes but when they needed replacing I just couldn’t justify it any more! Anything over £15 is a very considered purchase for me, there’s such great brush brands for a lot less!

I’m very anal about cleaning my brushes and I feel your pain with the Maybelline gel liner!!! Arrgghhh!!!

      • April 14, 2016 / 10:38 am

Do you have Daiso over there? They make an amazing brush cleanser! I swear by it! Brush clean in seconds! No kidding!

        • April 14, 2016 / 10:41 am

No I don’t think so, but I’ll have to check – our brush cleaning options are seriously limited. For some reason they’re just not an accessible product, there wasn’t anything on the high street until Real Techniques launched theirs which is crazy. We’re grubby dirty brush users over here!

Yay on the Quo blending sponge! I will send you MORE! You’re not the only one converted to it who is worried about securing a supply of them… perhaps I need to start a business reselling them? 😆
And I spy the Anna Sui Face Brush! How do you like it? 😀
Those Becca duo fibre brushes remind me of the recent limited edition ones that MAC released in the Haute Dog collection. I covet all of your discontinued Becca brushes! 😛
Brushes are a compulsion for me – I buy (and subsequently give away) so many brushes! I never know where I will find the next “it” brush. One of my most favourite blush was from a random hair salon – I went back and couldn’t get another one for back-up. I have a lot of brushes:

And it’s grown since then! 😛

The Anna Sui brush has kept getting lost in the middle of these overflowing pots so I haven’t used it a whole lot yet, but the few times I have used it I have really liked it! think I need to leave it to one side because it’s shorter than the rest so ends up crowded by the ones in the middle!

My MAC Oval dupe arrived yesterday but didn’t get chance to snap it for this post! Will give it a try tonight when I get home!

I’m glad I picked up those Becca brushes I had no idea they were being discontinued just a lucky CCO find, but I’ve not used the duofibre ones more than about 5 times ever I don’t think! the eyebrushes and the powder brush are favourites though!

I might have to take you up on that offer I had a little look on eBay earlier and I can’t find them via my usual trusty eBay!

So jealous of your fantastic collection!

The My Little Beauty Collection sponge is so interesting – that pointed tip looks like it could take an eye out! Lol I’ve never seen one like that before but I bet it’s great for blending under eye concealer!

    • April 15, 2016 / 9:15 am

Thanks Maggie! It’s relatively new to my collection as I got it in a beauty box a few weeks ago, I haven’t actually gotten around to trying it yet, but it is very very tapered for a sponge!

Love brushes~~ just not loving the washing part haha. TOTAL brush-envy~ love this post

  8. April 16, 2016 / 12:41 am

The RT buffing brush is my favorite for applying foundation, I would definitely recommend checking it out! I think I got it in a set or something. I loved reading about your brush collection, thanks for doing a collab with me! xx

Well I guess I’ll have to pack up one of them Quo Blending Sponges for ya 🙂
