Kiko, Boots & Kiehls Haul

I betcha wasn’t expecting to see a haul from me were you, after saying that there was attempting to be a spending ban on makeup for myself in April and this shopping occurred on the 2nd April. Well it depends how you look as to how badly I failed ๐Ÿ˜‰

I still had some money left over from my Birthday and had the money earrmarked for a pair of shoes, but when I went on to try on said pair of shoes they were so uncomfortable I went back to shopping to where I can do the best damage. Also the boots segment of this haul was done on loyalty points so is completely discounted anyway.

Kiehls

kiehls-calendula-deep-cleansing-foaming-face-wash

I revisited Kiehls Nottingham on Saturday for my skincare consultation where they tested the oil and moisture levels in my skin and I was really surprised at the results. I’ve always thought my skin was a little on the oily side but I was showing as very oily on my T zone and my cheeks as normal to oily and moisture levels in the skin should be between 40 & 50%, and mine was at 32, so a little dehydrated as well. She recommended a whole host of products and we tried them on my skin and I walked away feeling fantastic, but I only opted to get this Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash to start me off and few samples of the other products, whilst I was tempted by the serum but have a couple that I’m trying to finish up, but probably will purchase when those are gone as well as her other recommendations as I finish up other products too.

Kiko

Before my appointment in Kiehls I met up with a friend for lunch and did a bit of shopping. We’d had a conversation a few weeks ago with our other friends about KIKO as she had never shopped there and suggested we went in. Oh balls ha.

kiko-eyeshadow-118

First up was the single eyeshadow in shade 118 or Pearly Beige Silk which is a champagney shade. In the shop this swatched beautifully but it’s barely showing up now I’m at home. I’m hoping there might just be a film across the top and it will show up as nicely as it did in the store. If it does turn out to be terrible then it was only £2.80 so not a big loss!

kiko-heatwave-lip-oil-grapefruit

I next picked up a Heatwave Lip Oil from their new collection, they had 3 versions of this Vanilla, Coconut and Grapefruit. Whether it was just the terrible cold that I’m currently confined to the sofa with creeping in or not but the only one I could smell was grapefruit so that was the one I opted for. Just before going in Kiko I had been trying to spy the Clarins Lip Oils I’ve seen featured on a few peoples blogs recently and couldn’t see them on the stand. At £10.90 I bet this is cheaper than Clarins’ too!

kiko-gossamer-emotion-lipstick

Lastly, was this gorgeous Gossamer Emotion Lipstick (Gossamer – a fine, filmy substance consisting of cobwebs spun by small spiders, seen especially in autumn.) BRB just got to do a bit more research on this spider lipstick… nope there doesn’t seem to be spiders involved. The shade I picked up was 109 Amaranth a gorgeous plummy nude. The pigmentation of this is great and feels really smooth and easy to apply, there’s 30 shades in this relatively new line and the metal packaging is lovely too with a button topped lid, in gunmetal and rose gold. Priced at £10.90 these give the quality of packaging and product of something triple the price.

Boots

This was completely my sisters fault, we were away at a family birthday party Saturday evening in Leicester and I saw NYX packaging all over the floor. I asked if she’d placed an online order and she said no, she’d been into boots in Leicester and they had added the stand. Goodbye Boots points.

essie-retro-revival-starry-starry-night

First off, A re-release of a discontinued classic – Essie Starry Starry Night which I’ve been trying to get my hands on for about 6 weeks, luckily there was one left on the stand! I’ve seen this compared to the original and I know it’s not the same but I still couldn’t resist getting it and looks pretty regardless. I don’t get why you would re-release shades that people love and want to get their hands on and not make them identical!

garnier-micellar-water-oil-infused

Next up was a new version of Garnier’s Micellar Water that I love and I will likely run out of the one I’m currently using some point this month, this time it’s an oil infused version designed more for Dry and sensitive skin (not oily like mine turns out to be haha!) but I’m sure it will still do the job of quick makeup removal just as well and won’t do any harm to my skin!

aussie-flower-power-dry-shampoo

Next up was a repurchase of Aussie’s Dry Shampoo and I was happy to see some scented limited edition ones released for summer. Aussie’s Dry Shampoo is my favourite and I’ve missed not having it around for a few weeks while I’ve been trying to use up L’Oreals Extraordinary Clay one which just doesn’t do a good job at all!

nyx-lip-cream-haul

All the NYX last but not least! One of the reasons I’d been keen to try and see NYX in person was for the lip creams to see colours in person. The stand I gather was only a week old and had clearly been mobbed by Leicester beauty enthusiasts as there was lots picked over. I took to raiding the stock drawers to see if I could find what I wanted when it wasn’t on the shelves. I walked away with Prague a gorgeous mid plum rose,  Addis Ababa a bright fuschia and Monte Carlo a classic blue toned red, and actually a liquid lipstick colour I don’t own and have been on the search for!

nyx-matte-lipstick-tea-rose

Next from NYX was their Matte Lipstick in the shade Tea Rose which I’ve heard lots of good things about in the past and tried to order with my original NYX order when it launched in the UK but it was already out of stock. I can see why people love this colour, it’s a perfect rose shade that will suit everybody. I can see me getting a lot of wear from this in Spring.

nyx-hd-concealer-porcelain

Lastly is the NYX HD Concealer in Porcelain, I was interested in pitting this against the Makeup Forever HD concealer and seeing if you can drawer any comparisons in the HD claims. I did pick this up in a super light shade for under the eyes and contouring the face. If you’re very fair I’d recommend checking this out.

SWATCHES (Sorry Light wasn’t the best!)

Left top to bottom: Lip Oil, Gossamer Lipstick, Kiko 118 eyeshadow

Middle top to bottom: NYX Tea Rose, NYX Porcelain Concealer

Right top to bottom: NYX Lip Creams Monte Carlo, Addis Adaba, Prague

haul-swatches

That’s all from my haul! Hopefully this should be the only one this month! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these and if there’s anything in particular you want bumped to the front of the queue for reviews.

Another Garnier Micellar water ?!?! They are just bringing these out like no bodies business! They don’t have this version where I live and the only ones I have seen in NZ is the original pink one and the mattifying blue bottle

We have a green, pink and blue this is the first time I’ve seen this one and haven’t seen any adverts or blog posts about it either so must be pretty new! It is seeming a bit ridiculous I must say how many times can we spin the same product!

I can’t wait to start using them. Need to get over the cough and cold I have as I don’t feel like wearing any makeup at the moment, but I’m itching to start using everything! x

I know what you mean, when you’re sick you don’t feel like wearing any makeup. Hope you’re better soon x

Yay you got SSN! ๐Ÿ˜€ I don’t have the original, either, but I do like the re-release.

    • April 7, 2016 / 3:33 pm

Yeah it’s pretty regardless so I’m not too bothered, you’re just a bit closer to the stars I think than the original, glitter is just a little chunkier

A lot of oily skinned people think they’re oily so they don’t need hydration – you can be oily and dehydrated too! I had my skin assessed at various counters including Kiehl’s and I’ve seen an improvement on my hydration over time when I started including serums and less harsh cleansers. I have the Kiehl’s Calendula toner sitting in my stash waiting to be opened – they told me it’s one of their bestsellers, I hope I’ll like it!
I just started using the Kiko stuff I got late last year from my swap with agirlwithpinkcheeks and OMG! SO envious of your easy access to that brand! I’d go crazy in a Kiko store.
Ugh, that Essie Starry Starry Night (or as I call mine, Tarry Tarry Night) is a product regret for me. I hope I don’t spoil it for you but the formula on that is terrible! Goopy mess, and to add insult to injury, it chipped after 2 days. ๐Ÿ™
Oh wow, those NYX lippies are so BRIGHT. Way out of my comfort zone there… I’m curious about that HD concealer! I almost picked it up in March but they were sold out of my shade.
Shoes, who needs shoes when you can get all this makeup instead! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes I know common miscons huh it’s just not one I was guilty of! I moisturise use serums masks etc and drink about 8 pints of water a day so was suprised it was so low the only thing I can think of was that I went just as I was about to get really sick so maybe it was just my body showing signs of being run down. I was tempted by that the petals inside had me curious but I have 3 others I know I need to finish, one day I’ll get it! Oh no was going to try out the polish tonight! That bright pink nyx is making the others appear brighter than they are I think, Prague is quite muted!

      • April 7, 2016 / 6:16 pm

I hope you don’t get sick! Our skin always know!

Aww at least you have company (the dog – he must think it’s the weekend and time for play!) Feel better soon!!!

You picked up some great items! Love NYX and Kiko and I’ve been wanting to try the Kiehl’s Calendula toner. Maybe one day soon.

    • April 8, 2016 / 7:44 am

I’m kind of wishing I got the toner too already, I did reorganise all my skincare stash yesterday and I have 3 so I’m sure I can cope a little longer without!

Haha, oh no! I did a huge tidy up last night and gathered my unreviewed lip products that I’m aiming to review and I have something stupid like 30 to get through. Don’t think I’ll need any more for quite a while at this rate! xxx

  12. April 8, 2016 / 10:42 pm

Wow, I literally have every single NYX item you bought!! Great minds think alike. xx
