March’s £25 Beauty Budget

If you’ve been paying attention this month you’ll probably realise that I won’t have stuck to my monthly budget of non essential beauty items (£25) at all this month. I was thinking the deficit would be bad this month and I wasn’t wrong. Oooops.

If you’ve missed the introduction of these last few posts you’ll know that I self imposed a spending cap for non essential items – and limited myself to only 1 beauty box a month not included within the spend. £25 doesn’t stretch very far when you have big magpie eyes like me, and let’s just say, I’ve got some making up to do.

Essentials

Lee Stafford Haircare – 2 for £10

lee-stafford-haircare-haul

I’m trialling the lee stafford hair growth line to see if it helps me look like rapunzel for my wedding day, if so that’s all I’m going to use between now and then. The whole line was on two for 10 so I also picked up their shine spray as I’d also run out of that – it’s the only product which makes my bleached locks look healthy.

Dr Bronners Magic Soap – £5.99

dr-bronners-citrus

My favourite thing to clean my brushes with just ran out, so I had to quite literally run out and get another. I reviewed this not too long ago vs the real techniques brush cleanser, which is also almost out so I thought I’d better grab another before running out all together. This is double the size of what I normally get so it should keep me going for a while.

H&M Rose Reverie Body Scrub – £3.99

Totally out of body scrub this month so picked up another from h&m whilst doing an online order. In my haul I said I thought this had microbeads in but in fact I think they’re seeds – still undecided about what it’s made up from!

Non Essentials

NYX Liquid Lipsticks – £5 Each

Look Incredible Box – £18.99 – (link)

W7 Haul – £19.93 (link)

Body Shop Haul – £23.40 (link)

Kiehls Haul – £60 (link)

Feat Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Midnight Recovery Eye, and Creamy Eye Treatment

with free samples of Ultra Facial Moisturizer and Ultra Facial Cleanser

Kiehls-Bloggers-Event-Nottingham

When I went to the Kiehls event I treated to myself to a few products I’d been eyeing for a while and had been convinced of on the day, If I’d bought these products on a different day they would have cost me £21.50 more as I had a discount for being at the event, and I wouldn’t have gotten the Moisturizer and Cleanser samples. So I’m going to give myself a savvy saver bonus of £21.50 as I would have bought all these products eventually. I make the rules.

March’s £25 Budget

Total Non Essential Spends = £132.32

Birthday Money Spends: – £40

Savvy Saver Bonus: – £21.50

Money Carried Forward from February -£0.53

Total Spent: £70.29

Total Over: £45.29

Oh Crap. Looks like I’ve got some making up to do.

April I’m going to attempt to only buy Look Incredible as I’m keeping those going while I decide whether to cancel My Little Box or not – I’ve only had two boxes so far so I don’t want to be too hasty, I have enough of everything to keep me going for quite a while, including essentials like Shampoos and Conditioners. So here’s to attempting a no buy April.

Hopefully this will also force me to use up bits that have been lurking, and review some products I keep putting off photographing!

Lovely post! You bought some really great stuff. I also really loved your idea about a monthly budget. I’ll definitely try it myself!

    Budget, what budget? *snicker* 😛
BUT, you did get some amazing deals at that W7 warehouse and the Body Shop sale! You should add up your savings too. 😉
I’m skeptical about those Lee Stafford hair growth products – how can a topical product help hair to grow? Did you take some supplements before for hair & nails? Maybe try those again. I take biotin and it helps.

I do still have some of those left over and keep forgetting to take them, that’s my issue!

I’ve heard really positive things about the Lee Stafford range and was convinced by a blogger who seems to have very similar hair to me saying it always saves her hair after it’s been damaged and had a good chop.

I believe the treatment is the star from the range, I think you could probably live without the others! But what kind of test would it be if I didn’t try it all!

Haha yes I should, can I take the savings off the total as well :p

I love the look of that H&M scrub, rose is my favourite scent! Good luck with not spending anything in April! xx

Thank you! Rose is one of my favourites too I thought this would be quite strong but it’s quite subtle! Thanks, I’m already predicting that not working out! 🙈

I’ve been really enjoying these posts! It’s such a clever idea. I would love to hear how you’ve been getting on with the Kiehl’s products, as I’m thinking of buying the eye cream and moisturiser at the end of this month.

I’m really enjoying the moisturiser very lightweight and great under makeup. I’ve only used the eye cream a handful of times so far as I’ve been trying to finish up some others which are so close to the end, that being said I do really love the texture it’s so unusual just haven’t used it enough yet to comment on its effects etc x

Ooh that sounds promising! I haven’t had any highend skincare for a while so think I may have to treat myself xo

I always try and limit my spending but as soon as I get to a make-up counter i just can’t stop putting things in my basket!!!

Ugh, don’t even – no spend has been miserably failed this month. Placed a sephora order online today, went on for one thing came away with four!
