Helpless Diaries – Wedding #1: The Great Venue Hunt

Helpless Diaries – Wedding #1: The Great Venue Hunt

I can’t quite believe that it’s been just over a month since I said yes! This month has been a complete whirlwind, we’ve been so busy throwing ourselves into the midst of wedding planning. You might have noticed that I’ve been a little quieter, my weekends are usually reserved for catching up on photographing products in decent light – and writing posts up in the week. My weekends have all been entirely filled with Wedding Venue hunting since returning home. After being together for 10 years I just want to get on with it, I don’t want a big lead up to one day – I want the marriage after, not so much the wedding day.

This weekend we had our second viewing on a beautiful listed barn with accompanying cottages to put the majority of our guests up in – which is just big enough to squeeze in our guest list, and a date that’s been provisionally booked for the 3rd June 2017. We have one viewing left this weekend on another completely different setting, but I think our hearts are already set on where we’ve been to twice already, and I now can see our wedding being exactly where we’ve been – no where else.

The probable venue… no chair condoms covers though!

Alongside that we decided to visit a local wedding fayre this weekend for a couple of hours and got some inspiration for some other aspects of the big day. I’m 99% sure that we’ve found our photographer but we’ll just have to wait until we 100% have the day and the venue confirmed before putting a deposit down.

We’ve still got a busy week ahead, needing to pin down caters so we can get the full cost of what it’s going to cost, and how many of my limbs and organs I need to sell to make sure it’s all paid for.

I’m also becoming a much more active Pinterest user, not just for wedding stuff – but I’m turning to Pinterest more and more for everything in life! Give me a follow, I’ve never promoted it on my blog!

Let me know if you’re interested in seeing more wedding posts, we’re planning lots of DIY projects, I’m thinking Pinterest vs Reality ideas! I was thinking updates once every fortnight to a month depending on how much we have to talk about!

I’m loving it lol. We have lots booked already including the venue and photographer. I even have my dress. I am sure by next year when it’s closer il be feeling the stress but for now it’s all lots of fun……..although our bank account is taking a bit of a beating 😣.
How u far are you? X

Just Church! Venue we’re pretty set on, but should have definitely sorted by the weekend. We think we’ve found the photographer, and are in talks with different caters trying to decide on what we want as we can’t quite agree and have different ideas.
Luckily my parents are giving us a hand so the initial OMG how many deposits are needed all at once isn’t too stressful, but equally I don’t want them having all that stress luckily I have a bit saved so I think we can cover a good chunk of the initial payments for the things which are non-venue, and pay it off over the next year chunk by chunk!
I’m not planning on going dress shopping until as late as possible, I want to lose some weight and feel great when I go, and I’m also sure I’ll change my mind if I have it for too long! xx

Congratulations on your engagement! 🙂 I really enjoyed reading this post. That little barn is absolutely stunning. It looks so inviting and cosy! I have no doubt that it will make for a beautiful wedding venue. xx
