The Blogger Beauty Box – February 2016 Unboxing

I stumbled across the Bloggers Beauty Box completely by chance on twitter and thought I would treat myself to trying out the service… for blog purposes of course! Run by the talented blogger Vix Meldrew – the box is specifically for beauty bloggers in a way that aims to put blogger friendly brands into the hands of bloggers, not a bad idea heh? The service is paid for – but personally I think it’s nice to find smaller brands who are clearly interested in supplying product to bloggers so there’s maybe an opportunity to find brands to work with in future.

The service isn’t subscription based, you have to physically register each month to express your interest and there’s only a limited number available each month. It’s not something I certainly plan on doing every month – gotta pay wedding bills yanno – but I thought it was worth mentioning for my UK based blog buddies (sorry US & Canada!) who might be interested in keeping an eye out in future.

DHC Mineral Mask – Full Size £29

I’ve had a few DMC products in other beauty boxes, and they’ve mainly been oils which I’m not normally a big fan of however I know they’re an adored beauty brand in Asia so I’m always intrigued so see more. This is the product I’m most excited to try from the box – which you’ll know if you’ve been around for ages with my Face Mask Friday series which hasn’t made an appearance in a while as I’m really, really trying to use up at least one from my massive stash!

This is a clay based mask packed with minerals to purify pores and draw out impurities. Sounds like the kind of mask I normally love so I’m thrilled for this to be in my box!

Threads Va Va Voom Lashes – £9 Full Size

I’m not really a false lash wearer and have a massive stash that’s building up, I must start using some up. Whilst I’m not a big lash wearer I have heard good things before about Threads – a brand which hand makes lashes (kudos to whoever has patience to do that as a job). These are a nice mix of shorter lashes with some longer thicker ones – enough to add some volume without that heavy un-natural look, which personally I’m not a fan of and find irritating to wear.

MeruMaya Bi-Phase Plus Eye Makeup Remover – Full Size £14.50

Not a brand that I’ve heard of but a product I’m excited to try. I normally just stick to one job fits them all Micellar waters, so having a specific eye makeup remover is unusual for me, and I’m intrigued to see if it makes the job of removing makeup any easier. This is one of those split oil/liquid shake to mix removers (which I find embarrasingly fascinating to watch). Keep your eyes peeled for a review on this I’ll be putting it to the test straight away!

Vanessa Blake Puriskin Lip Treat – Full Size from £16.99

I’m not 100% sure on which product this is as having a look on the Puriskin by Vanessa Blake (mouthful) website these are customisable with things like sunscreen, and different flavours so it’s great for sculpting your perfect product – but that in turn effects how much the product is. This is way more expensive than I would normally spend on a lip balm so it’s another product that I’m intrigued and interested to try.

Madame La La Tan – West Coast Face Bronzing Serum – Full Size £25

Yet another full size product! From another brand that I haven’t heard of  – I’ve never been a serum girl, until recently when I was converted by the Ole Henriksen one. Ive also not been big on self tanning so I’m intrigue to see whether I can be further converted by this one too. I haven’t researched this too much yet so I’m not sure if this is an instant, or leave to develop kind of deal – or how dark it goes, stay with me, I’ll report back soon.

Mandarin & Chamomile Duo from JR Naturorganics – Sample Sizes

These samples smell as good as they sound like they might. A duo of their cleansing milk and their facial mist from the same range (although I’m not sure how to use the face mist as it doesn’t come with a mister…). There was also a handwritten note from the brand owner with where to find more information on the products and inviting you to try out more products by registering for their blogger programme – how lovely is that!

Considering this box cost £10 including P&P I’m so impressed with the value that’s in it – I was expecting to discover sample sizes from small brands – but the amount of full sizes is staggering for such a small little box.

Well of COURSE this is only in the UK! 😛
That DHC Mineral Mask is my favourite of the box too. And makeup remover is always welcomed – can never have enough. 🙂 Bronzing serum also sounds handy – I’m a serum convert too, now I can’t live without a layer of serum before moisturizer both day and night.
What amazing value for this box! I’m curious if someone else has offered these types of blogger boxes in Canada.

I think she only does about 40 boxes a month at the moment, I imagine it’s quite a time consuming task checking payments, packing boxes, double checking addresses all by yourself! Can’t wait to start trying everything, I’ve been itching to try the serum but have lots of plans for the weekend so didn’t want to end up looking like an orange accidentally!
