New York Haul : Sephora

Part 1 of my New York Haul that I’ve finally got around to editing, I decided to split it up into sephora splurges in this post, the bits I got from the drugstore in a separate post, and a handbag and duty free post. I realised the reason I hadn’t got around to doing it yet was because I was finding the prospect of doing it all at once a too lengthy task!

Surprisingly my number 1 thing to do wasn’t shopping – I was more interested in seeing the sites, so I didn’t buy as much as I thought I would, and there were some items and brands on my hit list I couldn’t find anywhere either!

Most of my purchases have sat in a bag since getting home and have laid untouched, in case I needed to retake any photos (#BloggerProblems) – so I’m happy I can put it all away and start using it!

SEPHORA

Sephora Formula X Freaky Like Freud – $12.50

sephora-freaky-like-freud

I was so excited to get my hands on some Formula X polishes, my only problem was the stand was a complete mess – I don’t know what had happened, but it looked like a war had happened there, none of the samples were where they should have been, I found shades I liked with no names on them and just gave up.

I also picked up another shade but I can’t find it anywhere – I’ve tried both out and whilst beautiful both have chipped really quickly, so maybe it’s a good job I couldn’t be bothered to look at the messy stand for any longer. Will keep re-trying as I’ve heard amazing things and they did apply nicely – maybe better suited paired with Gel.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer – $27

Just before going this concealer was launched and has been spoken about in lots of videos by Makeup artists I’ve been watching. The pigmentation of this is off the roof, and it feels like nothing on the skin – I don’t know how they’ve managed to make this but I’m impressed with the one try I’ve had so far!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – $19

My friend asked me to pick her this up and I wasn’t planning on getting it myself, but I thought I don’t want to get home and her tell me how amazing it is and I wish I would have bought one! I’m going to try and hold off using this as I have a lot of liners on the go at the moment!

Kat Von D Lock It Foundation – $35

I’ve been wanting to try this foundation for years, literally years. This is one of the few products which has already had a fair few uses already and so far I’m really impressed with how long lasting, high coverage and matte it is. Considering I colour matched myself I did a decent job, it’s maybe a touch dark but coming into spring that isn’t a problem as my skin tone will change as the sun emerges.

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita – $20

I knew I wanted to get one of Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks but I wasn’t 100% sure which shade to go for – I decided on Lolita which I think is the most popular from her range and I can see why, a gorgeous brown that leans to having a terracotta undertone, I have worn this a few times so far and really like it – I don’t like how long the tube is though, makes it very difficult to apply.

P.S UK peeps, there’s rumors of Kat Von D’s range coming the UK!

Sephora Lip Cream Marvellous Mauve – $14

sephora-marvellous-mauve-lip-cream-new-york

I was tipped off on Marvellous Mauve by Valentina and boy am I glad that she did, this dries down way more dark purple/mauve than it appears in the tube and I am in love with this shade. Review and swatches will be coming shortly on this!

Bite Dual Ended Lipstick – $10

In the section where you queue, there’s an enticing array of sample size products to try. I surprisingly kept quite restrained, because by this point I thought – I’m definitely going to come back  but never did. But I’m really glad I did at least pick up this – clearly a bit Nude lip crazy on this Sephora visit, but I’ve heard amazing things about the Bite Lipsticks so was glad I could pick up minis to try. One end is a brown nude, one is a rose nude – it might have been nice to have a nude and a colour as they’re very similar, but equally I’ll get a lot of wear from both the shades.

Sephora Sheet Masks – 3 for $10

sephora-sheet-masks

I’ve heard good things about the Sephora own brand masks, so picked up 3 in a 3 for 2 offer!

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap – 100 Point Perk

sephora-point-perk-living-proof

I’ve been wanting to try Living proof for ages, and as I spent over $100 I already capped up to the first perk award level – so decided to get my hands on a decent sample size of their overnight perfector to try out.

Marc Jacobs Happy Birthday Duo – Free Birthday Gift

sephora-marc-jabobs-happy-birthday

Probably the best thing about signing up to Sephora’s Loyalty was a free birthday gift, luckily we were there on my birthday to get my hands on something. I had a choice between a few items, but as soon as I saw Marc Jabobs minis I knew that’s what I would be going for. We still can’t get Marc Jacobs here in the UK – although it is coming! Generous minis of their eyeliner – which is a twist up and I’m already loving that, and a mini lipstick went down very well!

Samples

sephora-samples-new-york-february-2016

In addition to the other birthday and point perks she added some samples to my bag, 2 samples of the 3-D Filler Mask and a sample of the original Chloe Fragrance, which has already found it’s way into my handbag as you can see! A nice little touch to make me extra happy!

I’m now debating an online Sephora order for some Sunday Riley products with my Birthday money! If you have any other recommendations please let me know! Look out for parts 2 and 3 hopefully they’ll be up shortly!

Have you tried any of what I decided to purchase, let me know in the comments!

Love it all!!! Can’t wait to hear what you think of some of these things!

This is an unrelated question I just didn’t know where else to ask it… How do you get your pages to only show part of your post instead of having to scroll past the whole thing to see another post? Does this make sense? This may be a stupid question but I’m clueless!!

I’m going to New York in April and Kat Von D’s Lolita liquid lipstick is on my list too! Let me know when you’ve tried it out for a while if it’s worth picking up! The shade is just gorgeous though! xx

I regret not picking up more than 1, I really love the formulation – but wasn’t sure if I would. The only thing I don’t love is the applicator – it’s so long and thin and is a bit of a pain to control. The Sephora own brand ones are equally as good and a bit long lasting. Will hopefully have reviews on both up in the next couple of weeks, I’ll let you know when they go up! xx

If there’s one thing I’d have wanted to get from the US it would be Kat Von D products! Seems like you picked up her most iconic products so good job!

    Sinéad ♥ fabuleuse, toujours ♥

I kind of wish I’d got her concealer too – but fingers crossed I’ll get some more when I place an online order! Or possibly when I go to Spain this year I’ve heard they have KVD In their Sephoras! Thanks for saying hey 🙂 x

I’ve heard really good things about it, it’s kiling me waiting to try it but I have too many of those types of liner on the go – I need to use one up before I start too long as they tend to try up faster than others!

I’ve been waiting for this post! 😀
Love the shade of the Formula X you got – and the messy nail polish stand? THAT’S NORMAL! Sephora stores are chaotic. all. the. time.
So good you were able to get your hands on KVD – and I hope it comes to the UK soon.
I’m wearing one of my BITE beauty dual ended lipstick today! Mine is Pepper on one end, and Cafe on the other – Pepper is a deeper rose colour and Cafe is a peachy nude. 🙂
And nice score on the birthday gift! What good timing that you were there during your birthday month. I have to wait til July to get mine.
I think you showed a lot of self control at Sephora! 😀

    • February 18, 2016 / 8:56 pm

The rest of the store felt really organised, it was busy – but I could find everything I was looking for. the formula X stand was just a OCD suffer’s nightmare – or me a lazy person haha.
I really hope it does, I love the foundation and the liquid lipstick on the handful of times I’ve used them both! Personally I don’t think it will happen, we’ve been promised Physicians formula for about 3 years and it’s still not here! 🙁
Just checked my Bite, it’s Latte and Cortado – that’s one of the few products I really haven’t even swatched yet!
I did have more self control than I thought, I think because I thought – I’ll definitely going in another when I walk past – but never ended up doing so! I’m 40% proud of myself, 60% disappointed haha – is that bad!?
Just starting to edit Duty Free/Macys and Victoria’s Secret Now!

It just shows that you’re being responsible since you’ve got more pressing things to be spending money on – namely, the WEDDING! 😉
Can’t wait to see the other haul post! 😀

        • February 18, 2016 / 9:51 pm

Well I’d like to say that was a deciding factor – but wasn’t engaged until the evening of our penultimate day, in which all shopping had pretty much been done!
Maybe I’m more of a responsible adult than what I thought (haha, definitely not)

Isn’t the Sephora free gift awesome? I havent used the lipstick yet! Though the eyeliner is amazing! I won’t mind buying the full size when I ran out..😍😍

    • February 21, 2016 / 11:32 pm

Oh it’s fab! I’m the same I’ve been waiting to take pictures of the lipstick properly before ruining it’s perfectly formed teeny beauty!! I’ll also think of buying the eyeliner – the girl at checkout told me it was the best eyeliner she’d ever used and I think she might be right!

I agree.. It’s so smooth but it’s smudge proof definitely and it’s not messy when you remove them too. I really like it.. 🙂
