If you saw my collective haul a week or so ago you would have seen me feature the Bleach Reincarnation Hair Mask which I picked up in a real bloggers made me do it moment in Boots between New Year and Christmas. I’d been hairmaskless for a good month or so and after seeing rave reviews of this everywhere I decided it was time to give it a try.
The person who I’d seen most reviews of this was Gabriella from Velvet Ghost who I’ve seen mention in blogs and hauls several times, and her hair always looks gorgeous so thought it was something worth trying. At only £6.99 it’s a completely affordable product – but right off the back I really hate the packaging.
It’s that metal type of tube that crumples as soon as it’s squeezed, which I normally find on small tubes fine as you can shimmy the product down easily with your fingers or a key, but this just traps the product in patches and I feel like there’s a lot of product which could be wasted by the end of it.
It took me a good 3 or 4 uses to pinpoint what this product actually did for me. Gabriella spoke of this making her hair so soft, but for me it wasn’t transforming my hair any more than a normal conditioner would do.
Since going quite blonde on my ombre a few months ago I’ve been heat styling my hair more than I usually would do – and with Christmas and parties I’ve been doing it even more too. I’d started to notice that my hair was getting drier and there was more split ends appearing more quickly than there usually would do. I do look after my hair well – oils, treatments, masks and I tend to keep an eye on how much heat I use, and as a result I can go 6 months between cuts, but after about 3 months I’ve been thinking I need to go and get it cut again.
Whilst no product can actually repair split ends – despite what endless marketing from haircare companies will tell you – this does help smooth split ends down and the appearance of them is a lot less visible with this. The smoothing effect lasts 2-3 washes so I’ve been using it about 1-2 times a week).
Other claims the mask makes is preventing colour from fading so quickly, but I suspect that it would effect coloured rather than bleached hair as much. I’ve still been needing to use my Bleach Silver Shampoo as much as I normally would without using this.
I’d say so far I’ve gotten 5 uses out of the Bleach Reincarnation Hair Mask so far, and I think there’s probably 2 or 3 more left. Given it’s £5.99 – and often on offer – I think that offers good value for money. And given now I’ve realised that the mask works best for me concentrated on my ends – I now know to use less product and just focus it onto the ends, which would stretch the mask even further and offer even better value for money.
