MAC Hang-up, is not discontinued or limited edition but for me it’s a beauty #tbt because I got it for my 21st birthday from some of my friends (with a load of other MAC goodies too), so it’s reminiscent of a time in my life – as at 26 in February it means it’s almost 5 years old. For those who want to tell me that I should throw it away… it’s still the same as the first time I wore it, so no. Not a believer in every case abiding to expiry dates for makeup.
It’s the MAC shade which probably gets the least love from my collection – twisting the bullet up the shade that strikes you is very deep brown red, with purpley undertones too – and in my early twenties it wasn’t a shade I gravitated towards at all – and I think the ‘scariness’ of it has stuck with me for a long time, but this is the first year which it has properly got some love. Now I’m into deeper red and berry shades, I do pick it out every so often, particularly at this time of year – it has however snapped away from the bullet at the bottom so I’m scared of carrying it about with me, in case it gets smushed and damaged.
Hang-up is a cream sheen formula, so it applies to the lips with a glossy, nourishing quality that makes the lips look juicy. I’m always scared of shades like this budging, especially when they’re a matte formula, but I find if I apply, blot then reapply – it doesn’t really move about too much – but if you’re eating or drinking you will need to reapply after – there’s no surprise about that.
The colour on the lips is no where near as scary as it is when you just look at it, the colour applies less dense – whilst still completely opaque, and the deep brown/plum/red appears more like a warm berry red on the lips.
Most of my mac shades are neutrals and pinks, I need to get myself some more deeper shades like this to join the family, if you have any recommendations please let me know.
I hope you all have a splendid Christmas
