December Empties 2015

I’m very late getting these up this month, normally these come at the end of the month, but December just got away with me. You’ll know if you’re a regular reader that my empties can be mammoth sized, needing to be split into 2 or 3 posts, but in December I was pretty lazy with my beauty routine, I didn’t really have time for skincare, couldn’t really be bothered with experimenting with makeup as I was so caught up in working late, interview prep for my new job – and all that Christmas malarky that my beauty routine went on the back burner. So this is by far my smallest empties for all of 2015.

As you can see there’s Christmas stuff in the background… I did photograph everything before Christmas so I could throw out my rubbish so there was no weird queries from house guests… and I had planned to get this up between Christmas and New Year – let’s pretend the advent candles and the baubles are invisible as it’s now January!

Schwarzkopf Got 2 B Rise n Shine Hairspray

I’ve featured this in an empties before, it’s by far my favourite hairspray I’ve ever tried! It doesn’t stick in my throat like most do, the lovely trademark hairspray smell is slightly masked with fruitiness without being sickly sweet, and it holds hair and tames fly-aways without being crusty.

Repurchase? I’m trying to finish the one left in my collection I don’t love, then I will repurchase this one!

Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo

You’ll know if you’ve been around a while that I hate Batiste and normally avoid it at all costs. I did buy this back in October for making my hair white for dressing up as Beetlejuice for Halloween and didn’t want a proper white spray as I had work the next day. I finished using this up, but it’s more suited for making my hair white than making my hair look clean and fresh!

Repurchase? Not unless it’s for Fancy Dress!

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Conditioner

I’ve spoke about this in the last 3 empties posts, so I won’t bother talking too much about this again. Makes my hair soft and easy to brush through!

Repurchase? Already have another one on the go!

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo

This has been in about every other empties this year. it’s a miracle worker – leaves no coloured cast at all, it has a almost sticky consistency which when you brush it through your hair leaves it looking and feeling fresh and clean.

Repurchase? Yes, desperately, I currently don’t have a dry shampoo in the house!

Classics Pump It Up Nail Polish Remover

I bought this mainly for the bottle rather than the contents inside. The Nail Polish Remover is fine, nothing out of the ordinary nothing terrible. But I love that it has a big flat disk on the top which means you can put a cotton pad over the top and it soaks the pad. I have a tendency to leave the bottle lids off things which has lead to nail polish remover spills on more than one occasion so at least I can’t do that any more!

Repurchase? Unless this bottle breaks no, I’ll just refill it!

Korres Wild Rose Powder

This is a powder I’d had in my collection for a while and it had for the most part been a little to dark for me, so when I got back from holiday I took the opportunity to use it up whilst it suited me. It’s a very finely milled powder that applies nicely over foundation and for the most part kept oil at bay through the day. But considering I’m perfectly happy with budget powders for £2, I wouldn’t repurchase this again as it’s around £10 normally.

Repurchase? No

I also saw on  stashie’s blog that she did a countup of all her products used up in 2015 and I thought it would be fun!

In Total I used up 229 products (crikey!) – 143 of those were full size!

That was broken down into Haircare (73), Makeup (27), Nail Polish/Remover (9), Skincare (95), Perfume/Fragrance (17) and Others e.g Deodorant (7)

I would have repurchased 68 items, not repurchased 122 items and maybe repurchased 37 products.

What products have you used up lately?

I know what you mean about batiste dry shampoo I seem to go back to it and then I buy it again and I hate it all over again! However I got a tiny and guy gift set for Christmas and it had their matte dry shampoo in it? It’s absolutely AMAZING I’ve fallen in love with that one. The way it makes your hair style afterwards for messy buns and ponytails and even the texture you get if you wear your hair down is insane!! It’s a little more pricey but I think you’ll love it!

Ooh sounds amazing! I’ve reviewed about 10 dry shampoos on my blog, but haven’t come across that one yet – is it one just for texture or does it help with battling grease too? X

      • January 6, 2016 / 8:44 am

Oh yeah it’s dry shampoo too, works wonders my hair goes greasy so quick but trying to grow it so trying not to wash it every day it’s amazing! You should try it :)! X

Yes I can go 3 days at a maximum with lots of help from dry shampoo, otherwise I’d need to wash it everyday. I’ll take a look at this thank you for the tip πŸ™‚

Everyone’s complaining on the Batiste Dry Shampoo .. And I’m like ummm really liking it .. *Shocked Face Emoji*

Haha, i just have never been able to get on with it – the normal version makes my roots grey and my hair is ombred so I can’t use either of the colour versions as it would just go into the other colour! Much prefer clear ones to be safe! Xx

I’ve been curious about that Korres Wild Rose Powder – I see it from time to time at Winners (TJMaxx) for cheap but I didn’t know if it was good.
So impressive that you used up 229 products!!! Think of all that STUFF leaving your house. Quite interesting that over 50% of the items you used up, you wouldn’t repurchase. Wonder why that’s the case? Were a lot of items from beauty boxes?

    • January 6, 2016 / 10:50 pm

Yes I noticed going through most of the items I wouldn’t repurchase or were maybes were the majority of samples.

Kind of reiterates my need to scale back on boxes, some are just I have a massive stash of products – e.g body lotions and I don’t think I’ll ever need to repurchase thanks to beauty boxes or samples are always too small to tell if I’d like them!

I did get my korres in a CCO, for cheap I’d try it but I would repurchase at full price – I’ve never seen them back in my CCO since my original purchase though! It’s nice and finely milled – but doesn’t do a better job of any other powders I love either

Yes I can’t live without it, but I most have got a bad aussi bottle because, at first it was liquidy and wet my hair and then it worked ok for a few days then the nozzle got stuck and it wasn’t spraying. Based on your review I’ll have to give it another go tho

        • January 6, 2016 / 10:52 pm

I have had 3 bottles when I first started buying them that all did that! I started buying the smaller bottles which have been better, but the last 2 full sized ones I’ve bought have been fine – hopefully they’ve fixed the issues! X

          • January 6, 2016 / 10:53 pm

Oh well thanks for the input that’s interesting, I’ll try the smaller bottles then. You’ve been sweet so I’m following you!

I love Batiste dry shampoo. It’s a lifesaver! I wrote about it in my “December favourites” post also, in case you want to check it out 😊 Adryana xoxo

    • January 13, 2016 / 2:09 pm

I will do adryana – I just can’t get on with Batiste, not for me! It seems to be a product you either love or hate!

      • January 13, 2016 / 2:13 pm

Actually, for me you are the first one I know who hates it. Weird how sometimes things work.

  5. January 15, 2016 / 1:15 pm

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has an on/off relationship with Batiste! (specifically the Tropical one too, haven’t tried any others). So you can imagine my horror when it doesn’t work out as I have jet black hair… πŸ˜‚I am almost out of it though!

    • January 15, 2016 / 2:09 pm

Use it up and try either the sheer invisible one from Colab or the Aussie one – both are clear and are so much better on dark hair! (and don’t leave hair feeling dirty either πŸ™‚ ) xo

      • January 15, 2016 / 2:46 pm

Aww thanks for the recommendations! Will definitely look out for those next time am in Boots!
