What I Got For Christmas 2015

As I’m writing this it’s Sunday 3rd – I’m moping on the sofa in my pyjamas, watching Jurassic Park II and I can’t be bothered to sit at the computer and catch up on blogging having not done anything since the 19th December. I thought I’d share some of what I’ve got for Christmas, I love seeing other people’s posts and videos on this (as it gives me inspiration for my Birthday in February!)I got a fair mix of bits for my home, fashion and a few beauty bits. There wasn’t too much on my list this year – much to my entire families annoyance, but I don’t like having a big massive list, I like making my family think about what to get me – haha! But it’s boring when it’s all stuff you know! Our Christmas gift exchanges were split across about 5 days from seeing family and friends over the festive period meant it all got stretched out up until the 31st!

My boyfriend got 10 points for taking note of me mentioning that I’d seen few Barbour jackets I liked when I did my winter lust list at the start of November. I had an inkling he would be getting me one as he got me to try on a few different styles in John Lewis – but he actually found my post and got one of the exact ones from my list – what a gem! I’ve worn this all week and I absolutely love it!

As a Barbour jacket was quite a splurge item I got one other small item of a Star Wars storm trooper notepad – I’m going back to the world of a ‘geeky’ web design office and it’s so I can look “cool and fit in”- apparently… I’m not 100% sure if I will take this work yet or use it for our watching 100 movies challenge were attempting this year. I’m still new to Star Wars, I’ve seen the VII, and have watched I and II – I think by the end of the evening there’s a good chance I may have watched III as Ben keeps requesting to watch it!

Next up was another item from my winter wish list from My Aunty and Uncle – it was one of the few items that was actually put onto a list. I wanted some new bedding for our spare bedroom and fell in love with this one in summer after seeing it in store so decided to finally ask for it! It’s from Joules for anyone interested. We also got some matching navy sheets from my Sister for the bottom – whilst beautiful and white in the picture that’s just not practical is it?!

what-i-got-for-christmas-poole-pottery-vase

My Mum and Dad bought me a decorative vase (Maya by Poole Pottery) for my bedroom (this is how I know I’m getting old!) – we’ve started redecorating our bedroom and have a statement olive green wall, so this was a perfect find by them.

From my sister was another group of presents that was on my list – some copper photo frames for our living room. I really liked the look of these onlines as they’re unusual, they kind of hover away from the wall and photos mount inside with a glass border so the pictures inside look as if they’re hovering. Once I’ve de-Christmassed my living room tomorrow evening, I’ll start deciding what and where they’re going to go! I’ve got long ones that can fit 3 or 4 pictures in & square ones, normal ratio ones I think they’ll look nice in a cluster all together!

My Boyfriends family were generous with their gifts to me too, I’m normally a hater of gift sets. Pass me a Dove gift set, expect a punch in the head haha! However I did really like the one Ben’s Mum (& Dad – but I’m guessing he had nothing to do with it!) got me – it’s a Ted Baker set contianing a wash bag, which is nice and large – a size I don’t actually own, with 3 beauty items inside which are all the same scent. A Body wash, a body lotion and a hand and nail cream.

Ben’s parents also got me a new dressing gown which is super soft and fleecy – it’s short and doesn’t actually do up, it hangs like an open cardigan – but the best part? The hood has 2 grey pom poms which when folded up look like bear ears. So cute!

Finally from Ben’s parents – they bought me a new cosmetics mirror – I have 2, one of which has a giant crack on it from dropping it when we moved, the other is too short and is prone to falling apart, so a new one was long over due! This one also has a inbuilt ring light too – which is on an adjustable mirror. Already proving to be very handy and if I do start making videos as planned, the right light aspect could also come in handy I’m thinking!

Ben’s sister treated me to some new clothes both from Dorothy Perkins – first was a gorgeous charcoal grey asymmetrical tshirt, and secondly was a blanket cape.

Some of my friends from work and I decided to do secret santa on a smaller group basis (as rather than being friends from work, they are my friends out of work to – going to miss them a hell of a lot when I go to my new job!) We were all naughty and didn’t a) abide the the £15 limit we set and b) bought small other bits for everyone! One of my friends got me a New Look Nail Varnish set, I’ve been longing to try the New look and H&M ranges of beauty items so I’m happy to have a set of 10 minis to try.

My other friend got me lots of Yankee Candle tea lights, a bauble which you can pop a tea light into (I decided not to put it on the tree in case we had an inferno!), which was personalized with my boyfriends name and mine. She also remembered that we’d been shopping one lunch time and I’d pointed to another tea light holder and said I liked it. Naturally with all the candles she also got me some matches, which is handy as they always seem to disappear of the face of my house.

No Christmas would be complete without some Christmas Chocolate and goodies – this was a lot smaller pile than last year as my entire family decided not to buy each other chocolate this year as everyone is trying to be good and lose weight! But I got a few bits from Ben’s parents – a pot of Marshmallows and sweets, and some of my favourites – Ferrero Roche! I’ve been good and still not touched either as of yet… although I am now thinking about chocolate which makes me want to go dig some out! And of course a few miniature flavoured vodkas are also a must!

Obligatory Beagle related item… Beagle coasters from my parents!

We also got a significant amount of cash – which is what we really asked for. We didn’t have lots of small bits to ask for and our house is bursting at the seams with clutter, so whilst boring for everyone else it meant we can put it towards what we really need, that we wouldn’t really be able to ask for – new bedroom furniture!

        what-i-got-for-christmas-oasis-jumpers

I did treat myself to a few items in the sale with some of my Christmas money. I really needed some new jumpers for work (and we all need at least a few new items to coincide new jobs right?). All were from Oasis the first was identical to a jumper I bought a few months ago in a different colour way (navy brown and white) and this one is black white and forest green, I’ve worn that at least once a week since I bought it so snapped up another at £25 instead of £36. The second is a long sleeved Jersey top reduced to £18, the last jumper wasn’t in the sale at all – but I just fell in love with it and after being convinced of the quality of Oasis jumpers after how much I’ve worn the other one, I decided it was worth the £36 – navy, white and neon pink!

I also had a quick pop into accessorize as they often do amazing sales, I’d been looking for a necklace like this for well over a year as someone I used to work with had one and wore it every day, she had no idea where it was from but I knew how versatile it would be as she wore it so often! Reduced from £15 to £7.50.

I next picked up some of these double sided pearls, what I liked about these was that they’re a pale blue and lilac duo chrome that the camera wasn’t doing justice to at all – reduced to £2.

Lastly I picked up 2 nail polishes – I’d been intrigued about the new Accessorize beauty line since they repackaged it this year, and these shades were 70% off, which made them £1.30ish each, bargain! I went for the shades White Out (as yes I did actually need a new white, mine is on it’s last legs!) and Whimsical which is a very pale shimmery mint green.

Loving the vase. And that cosmetics mirror looks amazing! Do you mind me asking what brand it is and how powerful the light is? I am still looking for the perfect one myself.

    • January 5, 2016 / 12:26 pm

Its from No7 so a Boots own brand one (I think you said you’re coming over here so could get one!) – they’re always on offer for £20 – the light is surprisingly bright, and it’s on a dimmer so completely adjustable! I’ve used it as a desk lamp when the room has been dark and it lit the room nicely, it’s enough alone to be able to do your makeup in the dark!
