The Balm Put A Lid On It Review

The Balm Put a Lid On It

I must admit when I received my August Cohorted box and there was a deluxe sample of The Balm Put a Lid On It, I was happy to get a little sample thinking it will be good for a weekend away to make sure I’m packing light – but other than that I wasn’t particularly thinking that this would be apart of my routine.

I was completely fooled by the little size of this primer, I know you only do need a teeny amount when it comes to priming your eyes but this is a super small sample size – considering I’ve used this every time I’ve worn eye shadow, since August, it’s a testament as to how far this product really goes.

It’s a similar look to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, where it’s a very pale creamy shade which when applied to the lid helps even out tone, but doesn’t really have any colour, which compared to Benefit’s Air Patrol is a real god send. Compared to Urban Decay – as I’m sure most of you will be familiar with it, is has a slightly tackier residue which isn’t unpleasant, I find the colour goes on easier and that there is less fall out with this, having tested with some eye shadows which have a glitter running through are prone to glitter shedding, there is less with Put A Lid On It in comparison – but it doesn’t completely eradicate the problem.

Overall I think the The Balm Put a Lid On It is slightly better in all aspects, slightly better at holding glitter on, slightly better at having an more even pigmentation and slightly better at helping shadow last all day (and night). If I needed to buy another primer I would probably go and buy this one, would I say that you need to throw out all other primers as it’s going to transform the way you do your makeup? No, not quite. Overall I do like this primer, if you’re in the market for one definitely consider this one and look into more reviews, but there’s no need to rush out and get your hands on it.

I tried urban decay and now i have bobbi brown. I like bobbi as it lightens my eyelids a bit as well (i have deep panda eyes from interchangeably wearing glasses). But nothing stays as long as your eyeshadow (i had lancome and now i have bobbi brown). I have extra oily skin (thinking oily, now multiply that by 5) which starts shining at sbout 10-11 in the morning when make up was applied at 7..

I do have oily/combo skin but I think most people who have really oily skin would say it’s not that bad! don’t really suffer with oily lids though I can imagine that being a pain X

I didn’t even know theBalm had an eyelid primer. Glad it performs well – it looks really good in the after photo, very impressive.

Have you head of the one from Essence? That’s pretty good as well…

No I haven’t – to be honest I haven’t tried much from essence at all! I’ll make a mental note to check that out, but really don’t think I’ll need a new primer for a while – I’ve got about 5 and they last so long! x

Haha! True! Perhaps try their lipiners then. Those are good too, just in case you wanted a product to try anything from Essence. 🙂

Ooh I’ll check those out – I do love their all about matt concealer, other than that I’ve only got one lipstick which I’ve tried 🙂
