Bedside Beauty 2

Back in January I did a post called Bedside Beauty which featured all products which were in the little box on my bedside table which made up my nightly skincare routine just before bed, most of those products were sample sizes and all of which have now gone so I thought it was about time for an update as to what I’m currently using every night!

Hand Cream

Zoella Wonder Hand – I posted a full review of this on Monday, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. I must apply hand cream up to 10 times during the day, but for me the most important time to do it is at night. Allowing it to really sink in and nourish my hands without me touching something and within 10 minutes it’s all gone every where.

Face skincare

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + & Origins Plantscription Night Cream

These are all relatively new to my bedside, I’m making an effort to get rid of all the small samples I have in my draw or at least condense what I have! Advance Genifique is a much loved line, but the cream is a little thick for me to wear every night, Effaclar Duo (has since been used up since taking these pics – you’ll see it in my empties tomorrow!) was supposed to unclog pores and help reduce dark spot scars, and the Plantscription Night Cream is I think (!) the only night cream I own (other that one other received in a beauty box recently) so naturally it’s place is in my bedside box.

Organic Surge Intensive Smoothing Serum – I’m really trying with serums, for me I use either a serum or a moisturiser as I don’t like the feeling of my skin being really clogged – especially at bedtime. This is a really nice one, it’s quite a thick gel, but moisturises to a point where it’s barely noticeable. When I got back from holiday I was also using this when my skin was peeling and I stopped peeling within 2 days. Considering how brown I was, and how much time I spent in the sun I was really impressed – and my skin was so soft!

Steam Cream – A multipurpose product for me, I do use this on my face but I also like it on my body too with the few dry patches I tend to get on my elbows. I’ve bought a trio of these I think 3 years ago now (whoops) – and I’ve noticed that this is starting to change in texture a little so I’m trying to use this up whilst it is still useable. (I can feel your judgement – don’t worry!)

Ark Age Defend Moisturiser – I posted a full review of 5 Ark Skincare products here – and this is one I’m continuing to use in the evening at the moment. This doesn’t fit in my box, but it’s a nice quality product to have on show without having lots of clutter. This is a nice moisturiser which I turn to if I’m not using one of my sample products instead.

Spot treatment

Clean and Clear Advantage Spot Gel, Booths Tea Tree With Hazel Blemish Stick – Neither of these products are particularly impressive, or really worth talking about. They help but I don’t find either to be that spot reducing miracle worker which we all seek. I do have another one stashed back for red alert emergencies, but for little blemishes I keep these handy to try and use them up!

Body Care

Vivienne Westwood Naughty Alice Body Veil – I’ve had this since my first bottle of Naughty Alice and it’s laid unused since then (I’m on bottle 3, nearly need to buy 4!). It’s sat unused because I’ve always kept it back for a special occasion – I smelt it recently and I don’t know if it’s never smelt exactly the same as the perfume or whether it just could do with using up. ‘I’ tend to use this when I demand Ben gives me a back massage.

Green People 24 Hour Cream – This cream is a bit ambiguous, I’m not sure if it’s meant as a body or face cream. I’ve been using this on feet then putting socks on top. I’ve been using this on my feet because it’s just the right level of thickness. Not much to mention just seems like a normal body lotion to me.

Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream – I’ve got 2 of these pesky tubes from a Harrods Glossybox (searches how long ago that was…) – which was 2012. This proves an out of control skincare stash now! Again another product which has laid unused, mainly because I don’t really ‘need’ this type of product, designed to tighten, tone and lift neck and the décolletage area – at 25 (or 22 when I received this!) It’s not been something I’ve needed. I probably should have passed it on to my Mum, but I’ll be damned if it’s sat in my drawer for 3 years and I don’t use it.

Do you do your skincare in bed?! Is that why you have your skincare in a box by your bedside? I just keep my skincare in my bathroom cabinet.
Steam Cream smells so nice! But I only use mine on my hands.

Creams and things like this yes, mainly because I just wouldn’t remember otherwise! I’ll take my makeup off as soon as I get home, and that way when I clamber in to bed and see the box – and can just slap it on my face without a mirror! I think British Bathrooms are quite different to over your side of the pond, we generally don’t have storage space at all – especially in more modern houses!

Interesting. This is the 2nd time I’ve seen a UK person with a box of skincare by the bed and doing similarly as you – I guess it’s due to the limited space!

Yep 😞 always annoy me that our sinks here don’t even have storage space under them in general! My parents are the only people I know with storage but they own a 150 year old house and the rooms are very large in comparison!

I don’t have a routine for the nite, but yours sure is nice 🙂
