China Glaze Meet Me at the Mirage – Swatch & Review

China Glaze Meet Me at the Mirage Review

I completely forgot that I bought this about 6 weeks ago until when I got back from holiday I dived into my ‘to review’ nail box and pulled out something totally at random as I didn’t have the brain power to think about what colour I wanted to paint my nails (because we know that’s such a hard choice right?). I opted for China Glaze Meet Me at the Mirage for this manicure.

China Glaze Meet Me at the Mirage is the first CG polish which I’ve purchased in probably 18 months, whilst I like them their formulations are not normally my favourites and most of the time and most of the time I think their new releases are quite similar to what there has already been.  When I randomly spotted this in Sally’s I knew I had nothing like it and bought it home, and I’m glad I did because it’s even more interesting on the nails than it is in the bottle.

I think this is one of those nail polish colours which depending on what kind of skin tone you have will effect how it looks. This has meant that the colour has proved difficult to photograph, I’ve tried 3 different cameras, in all different light situations and none have come out as a true representation of the polish.

In the bottle this looks like a metallic bronze foil with underlying tones of rose gold. Now whilst I’m currently quite brown having gotten back from my hols, this swatches on me more like a rose gold, and I think this is going to be a favourite of mine heading into autumn as the seasons change.

Like most foils the formulation of this is great only needing one coat to be pretty much opaque (although it is pictured here with 2 for good measure), the formulation does take a little while to dry, but I can live with that because the colour is so beautiful. I tried this with a topcoat and it didn’t really make any difference to the appearance (but I’m not 100% decided on the topcoat I’m currently trying out) – but because it’s a foil it’s so shiny anyway so doesn’t really “need it” especially as it lasts so well without any chips too – I’ve been wearing this for 5 days so far and it still has no chips!

Grab China Glaze Meet Me at the Mirage whilst you can as this was from CG Summer Collection Desert Escape – I’ve found it half the price I bought it from Sally’s for £3.95 at Nail Polish Direct – get it. Get it now!

Urban Night is such a gorgeous CG shade for autumn/winter, I just bought 2 more bottles of it because I can’t stop wearing it.

I love CG formulas! I guess we all have different preferences… I almost never buy OPI but will always buy CG and Essie. This is a gorgeous rose gold shade – I love these metallics that are 1 coaters and they don’t show streaks!

I used to shop at the all the time, they’re just not that easy to come by here and means heading to sallys if I want to see the things in person which isn’t the easiest to get to! I should give China Glaze some more love though!
