Makeup Revolution The One Stick Matte Malibu Review

Getting Makeup Revolution’s The One Blush Stick in Matte Malibu has been on my hit list for a while. It’s been out of stock in my local superdrug for months, and I didn’t want to place an online order (because I knew that I wouldn’t just order 1 item!)

The One Blush Sticks are a dupe for the NARS “The Multiple” and and this shade “Matte Malibu” in particular is pegged as the dupe for NARS’ Laguna. At a massive difference in price the NARS Multiples retail at £25 – whilst Makeup Revolution’s are a mere £5 (which actually sounds steep of a Makeup Revolution item, given their palettes are £4-6).

I have never tried the NARS multiple so can’t do a direct comparison, but from what I can see online this leans a little more orange where as Laguna is a brown. I can pull this off, but I can imagine those with much paler and pinker skins might struggle slightly.

Whilst being a “steep” price for a Revolution product you need such a small amount of product using the very edge rim – if you only do a little light contouring like me. a tiny swipe down underneath my cheekbones is plenty of product. This will last a long time. I tend to only do one cheek at a time as it dries and sets quite quickly, so the faster you start buffing and blending into your cheekbones, the easier it is to work with.

I’ve found that the best way to do this is with a beauty blender which leaves a natural finish as it blots and blends better than it does with a brush which seems to require much more heavy blotting. One stripe of this leaves a subtle contour which is enough for me day to day, but the process can be repeated if you want to create a more dramatic shadow. Personally I don’t find that it lasts all day on me with my oily/combo skin – but setting either with the sleek contour kit bronzer or a translucent powder helps make it last longer.

If you’re on a tight budget then this is a great product that I imagine is very similar to NARS, but if you do want a browner, slightly more natural looking shade I would check out Laguna as well – especially if you’re paler and you have the budget

Are you wearing highlighter or are you just naturally that glowy?! If you are what is it?! I love it!! If it’s just natural, I envy you!!

Hahaha I am actually glad it’s not natural! I would have probably cried out of jealousy! Ah I’ve never tried sleek! Are they good?!

I think beacause I’ve just got back from holiday and I’m quite tanned it’s making the glowiness more obvious when I add it! I’ve not really tried masses from them, I have the contour kit and one eyeshadow palette and that’s it. Contour kit is good, although the bronzer is a little light as I bought the wrong shade – but as you can see the highlighter is really nice! Eyeshadows are good, but the pans are quite small in them and I find them a bit difficult to use compared to others so don’t reach for it all that much. Really should try more though! x

Thanks Sally! Me too – Shame it took me so long to get my hands on it as it’s brilliant – would have been perfect during summer!

This looks like a great drugstore alternative to the Nars! I like that this is matte too. Your skin looks so bronzed and glowy! 🙂

Really is, think it’s becoming hard to justify spends on things like naked palettes etc when revolution are doing such a good job of copying everything for a fraction of the price!
