What’s In My Holiday Makeup Bag

As you all know I’m currently sunning myself on holiday in Egypt – I’m hopefully pretty switched off from everything (tell me off if I’m replying to any comments!). But I thought I’d show you what I’ve taken in my Holiday Makeup Bag, I tried my hardest not to go overboard with packing too much as I always do, opting for miniature skincare and haircare where possible. And I tried to keep my makeup bag self contained with no overflowing!

The Bag

First off the bag – I bought this when we went on holiday last year in Turkey from a Victoria’s Secret store at the airport! I was a little dubious at the time as it wasn’t cheap as most countries other than the US seem to have an overly inflated price when it comes to VS imports – but considering this has also been an item I’ve had on my vanity and used most days to keep the products I’m most loving and likely to use – it’s lasted really well. With big clear pockets on either side this folds out so you can easily find what you’re looking for. It isn’t massive, but it’s definitely big enough – and stops me over packing 12 eyeshadow palettes which certainly isn’t needed.

BASes

Body Shop Instablur Primer – I was between taking this and my Ark Skin Protector Primer which although has SPF30, I decided not to bring for a few reasons. 1) I won’t be wearing any skin products during the day apart from normal SPFs. 2) the packaging of this is much lighter and less bulky and 3) It does a better job of keeping my skin matt so it should be better for warmer weather. I’ve spoken about this before in a full review and first impressions here.

ModelCo More Brows – I never thought I would be the person who would be happy as long as my eyebrows were on, but this product has turned me into an eyebrow doing convert! I’m going to have a full review going up soon as to why exactly I love this so much so keep your eyes peeled for that!

whats-in-my-makeup-bag-holiday-foundation

Pur 4 in 1 Liquid Foundation and Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation (depotted into an elemis pot). I may not even wear any foundation whilst away depending on how hot it is in the evening, but I decided to take my Lancome Teint Miracle foundation with me, as my bottle is triple the size of a normal sized bottle I decided to depot into a little elemis sample which should be enough for me whilst away. I’m also taking my Pur 4 in 1 Liquid foundation that I bought in a staff sale for a few pounds but took a gamble on the colour and it’s always been too dark. I think it will be too dark still, but I should be able to mix it with my Lancome which pre-going is currently the perfect shade so a combination over the week should be okay, should I choose to even wear it!

My Revolution Pressed Powder is my favourite as you all know, a budget product at only £2, that’s also great for carrying around as it has a mirror on the bottom so will be good for carrying out during the day. Lastly for base is the Essence All About Matt Concealer – this will be covering over the eye area and if I feel like doing a more dramatic contour as I become more tanned.

CHEEKS

Sleek Contour Kit in light, I wasn’t particularly enamoured with this when I bought it back in spring, but it’s certainly growing on me. I really love the highlighter, but it does fall on the more obvious side. I like the bronzer although it’s a little too light on my skintone (I should have gone for the dark or medium shade) – however layered over the Makeup Revolution Matt Malibu Bronzing Stick (Dupe for NARS Laguna Multiple) it works well to set the shade and make the tone a touch more brown. Last but not least my all time favourite blush. I think this will be the last time this travels with me for fear of it breaking now I’ve heavily hit pan. Sadly this beautiful peach blush from Estee Lauder called ‘Peach Nuance’ was limited edition and no longer available.

EYES

I had a hard time deciding what to take away with me, and decided to keep it to my absolute favourites for eyeshadows. 2 Kiko Eyeshadow sticks – they’re long lasting and can be used as a base, I’ve picked a matt creamy shade which is really good at a base, and a pale champagne gold. With my urban decay basics 2 palette I can pair these together to create everything from a subtle look to a smokey eye. Whilst I think I’ll mostly use the Kiko shadow sticks as a base I also threw a miniature of the Balm Put a Lid on it Primer as I have a mini sample from last month’s Cohorted box.

For the rest of the eyes I’ve taken my Kiko Volume Attraction Mascara which I reviewed last week, I find this lengthens, separates and adds a bit of volume so is a good all round mascara. So far I’ve found it doesn’t smudge through the day either, hopefully it will hold up in the heat too! I also have a Lord and Berry Scuba Extreme mascara which is waterproof should I want to put any on when we’re off gallivanting around in the heat of the day (as I write this the day before leaving it’s been 38 Celcius!), I haven’t really tried this so whether it will work I don’t know. Last but not least is the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, I’ve just realised I’ve never reviewed this which is a complete oversight – as it truly has been the only eyeliner I have consistently used for 3 years. Once it sets into place it does not budge through the whole day, I know it holds up well in moderate heat so should be fine in the evenings to wear too!

Brushes

Top to bottom, I have a crown brush which suffered a severe dog attack – I have no idea what the style/number of this brush is, but it’s perfect for highlighting across the tops of cheekbones. Second is a sephora pro budding brush – I like this for everything but at the moment I most like this for contouring/bronzer. Real Techniques Sponge – self explanatory, I also love this for blending in my Revolution Matt Malibu stick. Becca 16 Powder/Bronzer brush is my favourite for running over my face with a translucent powder/demattifying my face. Last but not least is a Real Techniques blush brush which suffered minor dog attack – which I love for blush!

(Please note I washed these straight after this picture so they were clean when taken!)

Left to right. Nanshy Angled Liner brush, I like this brush for creating a really thin and precise eyeliner line. Real Techniques brush is great for packing on colour. Random Boots own brand blending brush which isn’t the softest but is very good at blending. Lamora Detailed pencil brush great for getting into the inner corner precisely. Lamora Small shader which is good for smudging out the Kiko eyeshadow sticks. Lamora Blending Brush, the best blending brush I’ve used, so in love with this! Random Oval Brush that was from a Glossybox, can’t remember what brand it is – hate the design on it, but absolutely love the head on it! Another brush which lost a battle with the dog is the MAC 266 brush – great for gel eyeliner and creating a perfect flick!

Hope you enjoy your break! Egypt sounds lovely.
You did a great job selecting just those bits and pieces you needed 😀 I always drag along way too much stuff.

Packing to go away is always impossible so I applaud you for not over packing! I always do and end up wearing makeup once the whole time I’m away. Oops. xx

You packed more brushes than makeup products! 😛
I do love that you really use your makeup products up though – look at all those pans! That Estee Lauder blusher looks gorgeous – of course it’s limited edition!

I have products which I thoroughly love and use so often, but I do have a massive stash of stuff that gets purchased and sits pretty much unused until something runs out – but that’s normally my personality with everything in life, I’ll have to use all of something/watch all of a tv series in one go/eat all of one thing of my plate before I move onto the next thing… it just doesn’t stop me buying in the mean time! I did pack more brushes, but I forgot to pick up all my eye brushes so I couldn’t use any of my UD palette – good job I took the eye pencils!
