Stash Stocktake: Foundations & Concealers

Time for another Stash Stocktake post, I try to keep my Foundation and Concealer stash as small as possible, although it has been slowly growing as my skin tone changes so much over the year) I almost need a different shade for every month of the year!

CONCEALERS

2 x Essence All About Matt Concealer

Yep I have 2 of these, I bought second as my . I moved my older one into my handbag for emergency touch ups, but I really don’t touch up my makeup all that much during the day – so it’s still got a few uses left in it.  I posted a review of this here, so check that out for a full review.

Jerome Alexander High Coverage Concealer

I got this from work in a staff sale, when I bought a whole Jerome Alexander set (But I only bought it for the powder). I’ve used it a handful of times and never reach for it, so really can’t comment on how it performs. I’m going to make an effort to use this, otherwise it’s going to be binned!

HIGH END FOUNDATIONS

Makeup Forever HD Foundation

I posted a review of this a few weeks ago, It’s my current foundation of choice, but unfortunately my British summer tan has faded since I bought it (since we’ve had such a crappy August) and it’s a little too dark for me now. I’m heading to London this weekend for the Bloggers Festival and if I get chance I may go and repurchase another (or the new Ultra HD version) in a shade that will match me now, although I am a little put off because I’m on holiday from the start of October so will only get a few weeks use before it’s the wrong shade (presuming Egypt is as sunny as it’s meant to be)

Lancome Teint Miracle (Makeup Counter Sample size – 3 times bigger!)

My sister used to work at Boots and came home with 6 massive bottle of these from a staff sale. Sharing the darker shades with me (as she’s very pale in comparison). We both fell in love with this foundation, it’s a medium buildable coverage, leaves a dewy finish, the skin looks very natural. I fell out of love with this for a while (which is why I bought the MUFE), but have gone back to this again in the past week or so and i love it again.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (With MAC Pump)

I bought this in a CCO after getting back from holiday and it only suited me for a few weeks before my tan had faded slightly. I know people love Double Wear but I always found it a little drying, I have never felt from my few short weeks of using it that I would never go to repurchase it , as it didn’t impress me. Hoping this will be something that I can wear in a few weeks after I’m back from holiday (or at least mix with other foundations to make as tanned as I need to) – to try and use it up.

Pur 4 in 1 Liquid Foundation

Another product purchased at work in a staff sale – these retail for £20 ish and I managed to pick it up for £1. The only trouble was the boxes were sealed and you had really no idea as to what colour the shade name was – so it was a bit of a roulette as to whether you picked the right shade. Unfortuantely this is too dark (but I’m hoping when I get back from holiday I will be the right colour for it), which is a shame as it reminds me texture and coverage wise of MAC Studio Fix Fluid.

MID RANGE FOUNDATIONS

Ready To Wear Skin Perfection Serum Foundation

Picked this up in a staff sale, this is a real ‘TV shopping’ product only being sold in the UK at Ideal World (although I think we might be discontinuing it as it doesn’t seem to have been on recently), and on HSN in the US. I absolutely love this foundation. this is too pale for me at the moment, but my skin absolutely loved this. The pigment is mixed with Serum, so you have a 2 in 1 product that really benefitted my skin. I wrote a review, but never got around to photographing it on my skin – so expect that as soon as it matches again as I can’t wait to use it again.

Korres Ginger and Vitamins Foundation

Another CCO find, this is quite a light coverage foundation – I tend to wear this at home if I just want a little something on, or I’m just quickly popping out.

Korres Wild Rose Foundation

Another CCO find, I like this foundation and I like how it looks on the skin, . In terms of texture it reminds me of the Ready To Wear Foundation. This has a metal ball in it which needs you to shake it up before use. Although it doesn’t state it, it feels like there is skincare built within the foundation. The only down side is that it does leave a slightly sticky residue – it does even out with a powder but it doesn’t make for the nicest application and it doesn’t build very easily.

DRUGSTORE FOUNDATIONS

Garnier BB Cream Medium

My sister gave me this as it was way too dark to her. It’s even always been a little dark for me, and it’s in the shade medium. It’s quite a thin consistency and I’d always found it difficult to get an even coverage. Not something I’ve tried in a long time, so maybe it’s time to get it back out and give a second chance to.

Makeup Gallery Gorgeous Flawless Foundation

I posted a review of this foundation from the Poundland Makeup Gallery Face. Easily my least favourite out of all of these. It oxidises and looks oranges almost straight away, plus it was hard to get a decent coverage as it just went patchy.

Revlon ColorStay (Original Formulation)

I still have a backup of the original formulation of the Revlon ColorStay – I used to love this and went through many a bottle of this, but I didn’t really like it. Considering this was meant to be a dupe for the Estee Lauder Double Stay which I thought made my skin dry – I didn’t think this did at all. I haven’t picked this up to use in a long time – I probably should give it a go again and see if I still like it or not (and whether it’s gone past it’s best and needs throwing)!

That’s it! How many foundations/concealers do you have in your collection?

Wow that’s a massive bottle of the Lancome! I’ve always wanted to try Korres foundations but the brand is no longer available here (used to be at Sephora)

I know, I look at other bottles now and think they’re so small, but it’s because I’ve had two of these, it’s £100 worth of foundation so I need to appreciate it a bit more. The Korres are okay for the price I picked them up for which I think was £5 for the glass bottle and £2 for one in the tube. I don’t think I would repurchase them at their full price though x

The Estee Lauder Double Wear is my HG foundation! I do feel like its a little drying sometimes, especially during the colder months. I like mixing it with my dewy foundations so I get a long-lasting, but glowy finish!

I’ll try that when I (hopefully) get more tanned again in a few weeks and need to darken up some foundations to save buying new ones! x

How do you like the Estee Lauder DW compared to the Make Up For Ever?

    • September 4, 2015 / 5:49 am

It’s been a long time since I’ve worn dw because it’s completely the wrong shade now, but from what I remember I found dw really difficult to blend in comparison and the formulation very drying, on oily/combo skin that’s quite a feat! I may or may not be wrong but I don’t remember dw lasting that long on the skin for me – mufe lasts all day! Xxx

I use Teint Miracle, and when I saw that HUGE bottle, I almost fell off my chair! LOL that is a lot of foundation. <3

I know – my sister came home with about 6 of those size bottles and we were sat there like can you believe that would be £600 worth of foundation – and she bought them for a pound or two each! It would last me a year just using that foundation, let alone anything else! x
