Essie Chillato – Swatch & Review

Essie Chillato

Wrongly I called this polish Chillantro last week when I featured this in a collective haul – thank you to FiveZero who spotted my error! Meet Essie Chillato (personally I think my name is better) – I saw this at the start of June, as I was on a no buy and resisted purchasing it. It’s been in my mind since (a nail polish hoarders worst nightmare), and luckily as I headed back to get it, I managed to swoop up the last one in the shop!

The reason I wanted to pick Essie Chillato up is because I thought it was such an unusual colour, and quite unique to anything in my collection. It’s more pastel than most pastels and for a green, it’s not minty as it leans to the yellow side rather than blue. I certainly don’t have anything similar in my collection that’s both this washed out and leaning to the yellow side.

I love this shade is it feels very fresh and summery, and I think this would look uber nice with a tan, and is currently a contender for my holiday polish of choice for the first week of October. In some lights this looks more yellow, in some it looks green, so it’s a nice one if you get bored with your polish colour easily as it transitions in different lights.

With 2 thin coats Essie Chillato is a little streaky so have been finishing with a third. Whilst it has a nice trademark Essie shine by itself, I found it chipped quite quickly without a topcoat, but with my new budget miracle topcoat (review up next week hopefully…) this lasted on my nails for 5 days. The first time I wore this it chipped within a day (no topcoat), I then repainted and never got the chance to photograph it, normally I’d just push it to the back of the drawer, but I’m seriously in love with this colour and it’s now just been repainted for the third time in a row, that’s virtually un-heard of for me!

This is from the Essie Summer collection which seems to be making it’s way out of shops now – making way for the Autumn collection – it’s still available online readily so grab it while you can if you’re interested.

Such a different color 🙂 Too bad it doesn’t cover in two coats, but that happens quite often with these pastel shades.
