A England Captive Goddess

The second polish that I’ve tried from my recent Nail Polish Direct Haul after such a wonderful experience with A England’s Tristam I couldn’t wait to keep testing my other 3 polishes that I had picked up from A England.

A England’s Captive Goddess looks quite unusual in the bottle as a pale silvery blue base with a lilac duochome, then packed with holo on top. I’ve now worn this 3 times and the first 2 I was a little disappointed. Unlike Tristam which was nice and glossy without the need for topcoat, this just didn’t quite cut it and the holographic element just wasn’t showing on the nails as much as I hoped, really only showing up in bright sunlight – which then would be obvious. However the most disappointing element was how fast it was chipping, Tristam had lasted a good 4 days looking absolutely perfect, Captive Goddess was chipping in under 24 hours.

I gave it another go after trialling with a new topcoat and it completely transformed the polish, whilst the pretty duochrome effect of the base didn’t come through the holographic was now obvious all the time. And whether it was down to my new topcoat (I will report in due course on this) or I had sheer bad luck the first 2 times, this polish lasted on me from Saturday until the following Friday, by Friday there were a few small chips but I would of happily worn it for at least another day had I of not been itching to delve into my pile of untrieds again.

So with the aid of a topcoat, this polish scores way more points than without, I’m currently sporting this on my toes and I will be putting it back on my fingers in the not too distant future, I can already tell this is going to become a firm favourite!

Maybelline Dr rescue – the cheapest thing in the supermarket I picked up in desperation before I could restock on seche but it’s proving great so far!
