Lamora Eye Brush Set Review

At the start of the month I featured a brush set that I had discovered through Karen at Curves and Confetti. I had strong opinions on this brush set from the first use, but have been putting them to the test for 3 weeks to make sure these were the same as my first impressions.

The set as a whole is incredible value for money. I purely purchased this for the blending brush, I had been looking for something similar  to the MAC 277 brush which I had had a number of years ago and got lost somewhere between moving home from Uni, and there was one in the set which looked similar size and shape.

The Lamora 7 Piece Set is an eye brush set, and as far as I’m concerned is ‘all you need’ for any eye makeup look. Coming in a very nice cardboard tube (as cardboard tubes go). The set is synthetic, whilst MAC are wooden handles, these are plastic but they have a very similar weight to them. They’re easy to hold and easy to control.

Now something as I’ve come to as I’ve written the review is realised that I don’t have 7 brushes… I have 6. After they happened by chance to send a customer service message to see what I thought and if I had any problems, they’ve offered to put a whole new set in the post! How lovely!

Left to Right: Angled Shader, Angled Detailer, Small Shader, Detailed Pencil, Classic Shader and Precise Shader

I’ve tested and used all of these and they’re all fantastic quality. They pick up the perfect amount of product and I feel like I get far less fall out when using these, they hold the product well until it is applied on the lid. There have been 3 which have become daily favourites which are set to stay around.

1/ The Angled Detailer

Works very well as a brow brush for powdered product, but works even better as a liner brush. This isn’t particularly thin – which I thought would make for a horrible hard to control line. But it’s the opposite. I get such a sleek and crisp line with this brush, it’s not easy to get a super thin line, but personally for how I do my makeup it works wonderfully.

2/ Detailed Pencil

This is a lovely upright brush which is really nice for running around my inner eye corner with a bright and light shadow. Whilst the bristles are soft, the structure is strong, so it makes it very easy to get a precise application.

3/ Classic Shader

The 277 Dupe, dare I say… I prefer this (and the whole set is under half the price of just 1 of those!). This makes blending so incredibly easy to do. I can’t reiterate that enough. There’ snot too much else to say on it other than it’s my favourite blending brush ever.

The thing that sets these apart from every other brush is how easy they are to clean. The easiest way to see how well this works is with the angled liner brush. My Maybelline gel eyeliner is the best gel eyeliner in the world (fact) – it doesn’t budge or smudge at all, but in return it’s a right horror to clean off brushes and is very stubborn. On my Real Techniques Bold metals, Mac 217 I have to sit and pick off the last bits of gel eyeliner residue – even with the best makeup brush cleaner. It cleans off this so easily. The same goes for all of the brushes – I’ve compared using the same products on Real Techniques brushes and Lamora, and these clean much faster.

One of the reasons I wanted to hold off reviewing for a few weeks was because I wanted to see how well they held up after 5/6 cleans not 1 or 2. And I’m happy to report there has been no shedding to date at all, I’ve been tough and I’ve been rough and they’ve held up impeccably.

These are £12.90 for the whole set. You read that correctly. I’d happily pay that for each of the ones which I love alone. The fact that there’s 3 brushes here which I use more than the others is irrelevant when it comes to great value like that. They also come in a high quality cardboard tube which is very handy for travel, whilst it won’t last forever it is a touch.

You need them! They’re brilliant have washed and used them every day for about 2 months now and they’ve barely shed a hair, so good for such low cost! X

    Love the post 🙂
Question, you said “they’ve offered to put a whole new set in the post”. Does that they mean they gave you a free set for the review? Or that they gave you another set as part of customer service since you only had 6?

      Hi Laura,
I purchased this myself and they didn’t know that I was reviewing the item, instead of replacing the one missing brush they replaced it with a whole new set – which I actually decided to include in a giveaway at the start of the year!
      Hope that helps
