Sebastian Color Ignite Conditioner Review

When I found this mid last month, I virtually had to wipe the dust off it. I bought this well over 6 months ago from TK Maxx and have never actually tried it. I picked this up on a total whim as I was intrigued about a conditioner in a can…

Firstly, you’ll note – this is gigantic – the TK Maxx clearance sticker that was still left on this noted that I wangled picking this up for only £2. I presumed after reading this that it’s was a leave in conditioner – but no this is a totally normal conditioner, other than the fact that it’s a foam. Needing to towel dry in between shampooing and applying Sebastian Color Ignite, giving the can a good shake and putting a tennis ball sized amount into the hair, the foam soon dissolves down to a watery conditioner consistency.

I’d given this a couple of tries over the past month, and hadn’t really been impressed – but when I pink ombred my hair last weekend, I decided to give it a proper try over the past week as it’s designed to help colour last longer.

Within the first wash, my hair had noticeably faded – now to some extent, yes that’s to be expected, but I’ve used Directions Rose Red hair dye every time I’ve pinked up for the past 3-4 years and must have used over 10 of these in the past, and never have I known for it to fade as quickly as it had done – I’d expect to touch it up after a week from any slight patchiness, but would expect the rest of the colour to still be bright.

As the week has gone on and I washed it 3 times it washed out to a very faded candy floss pink – and I had to re-dye  Thursday evening before going to London as it was such a washed out colour. For a colour protecting product that’s a big thumbs down.

Secondly I wouldn’t normally wash my hair 4 times in a 5 day period, but this made my hair go greasy so quickly. Almost as soon as I had dried my hair didn’t feel clean and the ends felt particularly dry. I’m going to add this to my donate pile as clearly this doesn’t agree with my hair!

My First Experience with Sebastian? Not Good! Have you tried anything from Sebastian?

That’s awful! There’s something really strange about conditioner in a can, haha. If you’re after a good colour protect conditioner I really like the Tresemme Colour Revitalise one 🙂
