Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Sky Blue Review

I’ve had this in my collection since this haul from back in March, and it’s another one that’s been guilty of being put in my “to review” box and forgotten to be taken out.

Sky Blue is the first more pastel shade from Barry M Gelly Hi Shine line, I normally find this collection to be a bit of a mixed bag of absolute gems and ones which peel off the nail quicker than I can photograph.

I remember trying this when I first purchased and being horrified about how streaky it was, and I’ve tried it since and had the same thoughts. When this happens I do like to put away for a few weeks/a month to see if my opinion was mis-judged, and this one got forgotten about for a good few months. And whilst yes, it is a little streaky on the first coat – I found that if I was a little more heavy with the coats than I would normally be that this applied better, although it did need 3 I absolutely love the colour & finish. It’s pictured here with no topcoat and has been the perfect shade with the big british heatwave we’re currently experiencing!

It is a perfect “we never see skies like this usually” in England sky blue, that’s more intense than a pastel but paler than a bright. I’m lining this up to be the next shade on my toes (when my massive obsession with OPI’s the Sky’s My Limit has finished). I’m not normally that much of a blue nails person, especially in summer, where pinks and oranges normally rule the roost, but so far this summer anything blue hued has my vote.
