H&M Home Haul

I saw that H&M were having a sale and I bypassed the clothes to see if they had any nice homeware – there were a few bits I’d seen and liked before, so decided to buy a few items. They had lots, I kept myself relatively restrained. Whilst these will serve a purpose around my house (although I’m not sure where some of these will go yet.) I’ve mostly picked these up for blog photos – also we’ve been in our house just short of a year, and I’ve been getting itchy feet to change things up a bit, let me know if you’re interested in seeing any home decor posts – I’m no guru, but I do enjoy homeware as much as I love beauty!

The thing I’ve been loving most about blogging at the moment is photography, I’ve been working hard to develop my skills, actually use my SLR not my iPhone, and think more about lighting, scenery, touching up and processing afterwards etc. Not that you need to do these things – it’s just something I enjoy, and actually adds to my skills as a web/marketing designer.

There’s a style of blog photography I’m drawn to which leads me to read more and more posts when I discover other blogs, and a lot of them use items similar to this to ‘set the scene’ so expect to see more of these in photos coming up! Annoyingly as I’m photographing this the light is going crazy as we’re having a thunderstorm, so lighting and therefore photography is not on point!

Ceramic Marble Effect Tray – £6.99

I recently bought some transfer paper to create a marble effect background – it just wasn’t the colour that was on the ebay picture, so when I saw this, and it was cheaper than splashing out on a bit of marble – I thought, that’ll work – this is a lot smaller than I was expecting though, so I might have to splash out after all. I think this will go in my hall as a handy spot to put keys and sunglasses on!

Set of 3 Trays – £8

A grey oblong, pink square and yellow square set of trays that sit nicely stacked on top of each other. Not sure where these are going to go yet, I had planned maybe for my bathroom, but they’re metal and I don’t want them to rust – I thought they were ceramic.

Cactus Tray – £2

I had no idea what I was going to use this for when I ordered, but I thought this was really sweet! Turns out it’s perfect for on my dressing table for rings/earrings.

Bronze effect metal box – £3.99

I have a bit of a blue and bronze theme going on in my living room after starting to refresh my decor so thought I would get this for keeping little bits handy (such as matches and lighters for candles) – turns out it’s tiny, and as you can see arrived scratched and damaged with permanent bubble wrap marks, I’m about to email H&M and ask for another or a refund as I’m not happy with that!

What do you think of my picks?
