MAC Rebel Dupe – Body Shop Crush Colour Crush 240 Lipstick

When a friend at work told me she used to work at the body shop, and had an un-used lipstick she didn’t want – and offered it for blog purposes, I said “erm yes please!”. Body Shop is a brand I totally neglect to shop in – and Body Shop makeup wouldn’t be something I would even think about looking at… just because I forget they actually make it! When I got this home, peeled off the plastic and twisted it up – I had an “is it?” moment – Yes it is. A MAC Rebel Dupe. Running upstairs to compare this Colour Crush Lipstick 240 with MAC’s Rebel, side by side, these two are almost identical.

Where Body Shop 240 is a little more purple – MAC Rebel is a little more pink. Where Rebel is more matte in finish – 240 is a little more shiny. MAC’s is more pigmented – but Body Shop’s can be built with an extra swipe. You couldn’t really justify the need for both of these as where there are differences, they’re so slight. If I was picking one I would probably go for the MAC – personally just because I prefer a matte look lip currently and a more matte finish tends to wear a little longer.

Swatched on my arm they look way more pink than they do on the lips :

I was surprised as I thought I’d be telling you that I’d found a super cheap alternative to the cult favourite MAC shade. But looking up these are still £10 a pop (I guess they are a third cheaper), but it’s probably not cheap enough to deter the MAC lipstick addict collectors out there, who will want to have the MAC one – because it’s a MAC one. (Don’t be ashamed, I’m one of those too).

This is a shade that will suit me more when it comes to the autumn – I’m already quite tanned and it’s only June, and I’m only going to get browner as the months go on, and I think this purple sits better against my skin when I’m a tad paler rather than my natural orange brown hue.

Have you tried anything from the Body Shop Line?

Those lipsticks are so similar! I also always forget The Body Shop sells make-up. When I think of them, I automatically think of their body butters and Born Lippie lipbalms. This colour looks lovely on you. 🙂 xx

It’s crazy but unfortunately, their lipsticks are just one of those cosmetic products you have to love. 😀

With a deep shade like this, it’s probably better to have a matte finish so it doesn’t slip slide around. But wow, pretty darn close in colour – great job with this dupe! I really like Body Shop makeup.
