The £1.47 Makeup Brushes

I saw someone blog about a £1.47 set of 5 makeup brushes that they got from ebay (I can’t remember who, sorry if it was you – let me know to give you credit! UPDATE: They were in Kayla’s Favourite Brushes Post), and that one of the ones in the set was amongst their favourites, without any looking into what the brushes were I decided just to click and buy – (because at £1.47, why the heck not).

The sent of of 5 are all very similar – All these brushes are synthetic and I must say they are nice and soft, similar to the real techniques. The brush design is very basic – no fancy labels, writing  or colours (although they do come in a vast array handle/metal combinations). All the brushes are quite densely packed with bristles, and they all feel quite ‘chunky’ – out of all my makeup brushes, these are probably double the size of most. There are a few stray longer hairs in a couple of the brushes which is what gives the game away as being a budget item, but a quick trim soon sorted that out.ebay-makeup-brushes-review-2

There’s one very dense round topped brush, that is quite tapered at the end, it’s handy for getting product into the crease, but not so good for blending out. There’s 2 flat topped blending brushes – which feel fluffier towards the ends whilst still being a little too dense – these do look slightly different, but not enough to say they’re different, so I’m guessing this is quality control on a £1.47 set. This is also the case with 2 angled fluffy brushes, again slightly denser than I would prefer – but these are the stars of the set for me.

The thing that I have a lack of in my collection is fluffy blending brushes, I’ve been lusting after the 277 from MAC for years, and I need to bite the bullet and buy it (or find a similar product – feel free to give me recommendations) – I was hoping I would find something similar within here, but they all feel too chunky. I will get use out of these brushes, and for £1.47 for 5 (that’s about 30p per brush – including delivery) – you can’t really go wrong, even if they don’t get reached for that often. It just would have been handy to have a more varied selection instead of 2 which had duplicates.

I’ve had these for 2 weeks, and decided to give them a proper test before talking about them. I’ve not noticed any significant shedding, there’s been the odd hair or two, but I find that the case with most brushes when new, that they’re ‘settling in’. They have proved to clean well with the Makeup Revolution Brush Cleanser – and haven’t stained themselves (but I haven’t used anything crazy colour wise in that time either).

Incase you should want to purchase – link is here to buy, they took about 10-14 days to arrive from China.

Have you discovered any budget eBay finds?
