Colab Dry Shampoo Extreme Volume Review

I’ve posted a review before on the regular version of the Colab dry shampoo, and found it to be a pretty decent product, but lacked the quality of making hair look more voluminous. Cue the new additions to the line of the Colab Dry Shampoo Extreme Volume.

From the moment you first spray it’s easy to notice the difference between this and it’s predecessor. It’s very noticeably more powdery and leaves my hair totally white. With brushing through the hair this soaks up any oil with ease, leaving hair looking refreshed. The extra powder in this version does do a better job of adding more volume and texture to the hair – but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s ‘extreme’.

I’ve found that whilst yes, it does leave a white cast, using a spot of hairspray which will add a bit of moisture before drying does a good job of clearing any remaining granny hair hues away.

My problem with this is how it leaves my hair feeling. The extra texture created makes the hair feel unclean and coated in powder, very similar to how batiste does – but potentially even worse. Whilst it may not look dirty, I can’t get over feeling dirty very easily.

I picked up the floral Paris scent as I knew that I liked the scent from the last bottles that I had tried. I think this one “smells less” than the last, I barely notice that it leaves any scent in the hair at all. Not that that’s a bad thing it’s pretty neutral so there’s nothing I can really complain about, I’d personally prefer that than the sickly overpowering faux scents of batiste.

For me, I like this, and yes I do think that this does a great job of adding the extra volume that the regular version lacks. But for me that comes at the cost of having hair that feels cleaner, and I would personally not make the trade.

I’ll happily use this up, and would use it if I had another bottle – but if I was choosing one over the other to purchase, I would pick the other. But I have naturally quite thick hair anyway – those with thin hair who really do need to create some extra volume in their locks might be happy with the trade off.

I can’t resist trying out new dry shampoos, I have quite a collection of reviews building up (dry shampoo review link here)! Let me know any you think I should try!

Oh, I really like the Colab Extreme Volume dry shampoo! It’s the only one that gives me enough oomph and doesn’t leave a white cast in my hair. I have it in London and the scent is STRONG. I always sneeze when I use it.
So what’s your favourite dry shampoo of the ones you’ve tried so far?
