Face Mask Friday #5 – Manuka Doctor Rejuvenating Face Mask

For someone who thought that they didn’t own many face masks, and my Face Mask Friday series wouldn’t last very long – I still have I think 3 which haven’t been reviewed. Until 2 weeks ago I totally forgot that I had this, I picked this up in a set of Manuka Doctor products at a work staff sale in December, and it got shoved to the bottom of my stash.

The Manuka Doctor Rejuvenating Face Mask contains 18+ Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom, what does that do I hear you ask? Well let me google that for you…

Purified Bee Venom – is “proven” to nurture your skin’s natural collagen and increase it’s elasicity

Manuka Honey – Known to aid in boosting moisture & elastin

This looks, and feels quite thick, but as you rub it into your skin, it totally absorbs it and goes clear, hooray, the postman won’t think you’re crazy with this one compared to last weeks! But for me I don’t really think of this as a face mask, this tells you to wipe away after 30 minutes, but my skin has already absorbed it, I don’t feel as if I’m wiping anything away. I’m not sure if I’m not using enough. This feels like a night cream more than a mask, I don’t know whether it’s because you should only leave it on for a limited time so that your skin does not become irritated by the ingredients. Within the first 5 minutes my skin feels a little itchy, just mildly irritated nothing enough to take it off, but if you have particularly sensitive skin, I imagine this isn’t for you.

I think I might be a little too young for who this is aimed at, as my skin doesn’t really require the extra elasicity at 25, or the plumping effects of collagen – I’m still looking relatively youthful.

Another thing about this is the smell, I don’t know the way to describe it, I suppose natural is the word, it doesn’t have the nicest smell for smearing over my face, they haven’t hidden or masked the smell with other products.

This is a small sample sized pot, and I was expecting to tell you that it would be relatively low value (£5-£10), but a full size of this is currently on their website for £39.99 for 50ml, so this half size pot is £20. So not a cheap product at all.

In case you missed it, I’m doing a giveaway with Makeup Revolution items, check it out here, it ends soon!

I’ve used cream type face masks before and it’s like you described, they kind of just absorb into the skin. They mostly help to hydrate my skin temporarily (which feels nice) but nothing earth shattering. I normally follow up with a hydrating toner so it clears off the product but doesn’t strip my skin. Thanks for doing this review!
