I was patrolling the Tesco beauty aisles to check whether there was anything out of the ordinary there, as I don’t stop in very often, and decided to pick up another micellar water whilst I was there as the bottle I bought a few weeks ago I have flew through – very quickly. I was comparing the prices of L’oreal and Garnier when I spotted this little bottle right next to it. L’Oreal Micellar Gel – am I the only one who hasn’t heard of this before?!
L’Oreal’s Micellar Gel is targeted for eye makeup only rather than your full face that a micellar water will cover. Now I don’t find anything wrong with my Micellar water removing eye makeup normally, but I still couldn’t resist trying this out to see if it was easier/quicker or whether it was terrible and to tell you if you make the discovery not to try!
The eye on the left used the gel – and the eye on the right used the regular L’Oreal Micellar Water. I did the same motions on both eyes for the same number of times, and both got the same results as quick and as easily.
I’m in 2 minds about this as I can’t complain at the results – as yes, it did do a really good job of removing my eye make up. But it did no better job of removing than my micellar water did. Possibly if you have particularly stubborn mascara such as notorious stubborn child Benefit’s They’re Real – which has it’s own remover – which is ridiculously expensive, then this might be worth trying out as an alternative if a normal Micellar Water just doesn’t cut it.
The only thing I would say is with a micellar water your product will run through to the other side of your cotton pad (if that’s what you use like me), It will give you two sides for one in a way! With the gel you will need to reapply on both sides – as it doesn’t soak anywhere, so when you need a clean side of cotton you need to apply the product on the other side.
Considering this was only slightly cheaper than Micellar Water itself, and I think you need just as much product for your eyes as I’d normally use on my whole face, I think it would compare as slightly more expensive as it’s a smaller bottle.
Will I use this up – yes, but for me I don’t know that I need an additional product when the original does the same job.

Oh good not just me! No I can imagine it might work for those particular stubborn mascaras that can’t normally be tackled by waters! But without one to test I can’t see the point!
It is possibly designed for that. The only thing I have that’s really stubborn is the tattoo me eyeliner which is near impossible to get off even for Micellar water! But I don’t think I like the eyeliner enough to buy a remover just for it x

I checked out the lipstick online and its 1/3 normal size. But a full size is normally £18 so not bad! I still haven’t gotten round to emailing them and getting my account sorted – it’s still frozen from after my first box!x
It’s worth trying things like that before you splash the cash so I don’t mind!
Oh yeah, I’d rather have a good sized sample like this than to spend that much and be disappointed x
Ooooh this is new to me – kinda intrigued by a micellar gel, though think in all honestly I’d probably prefer the water for the double pad usage as that’s exactly what I do too 😀 Great review huni, kinda on the fence to giving it a go as curiosity will get the better – I can feel it lol x
Yep! It’s intriguing because it’s new but in reality the job it does is no different! I think if you have particular stubborn mascara or eyeliner I can see how this may work to remove and break it down but for my day to day a normal mascara does the job done with water! X
Thanks for the feedback Rachael, I think I’ll probably just stick to the water too… I don’t wear waterproof mascara or anything particularly stubborn so I guess the water does a great job already 🙂 x
