Barry M Speedy Quick Dry – Pole Position Review

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry – Pole Position Review

The speedy quick dry collection is a new addition to the Barry M range, I’m not a massive lover of Barry M as a lot of people seem to be, but when I saw this range popping up on blogs prior to the launch, naturally I wanted to give one of them a test.

Pole Position is a pastel mint green,  most of this collection is made up of pastels which is a good move by Barry M moving into spring, but giving the racing patterned lid theme to compliment the speedy name, I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t release colours like reds which have more of association with speed and racing.

This was quite streaky with the first coat and thought this was going to be a dreaded 3-4 coat polish, but with a second I was surprised that it was then perfectly even. The formulation of this is very thin, and whilst it doesn’t give you the thicker more gel looking layer of polish, it does leave a surprisingly shiny finish. The good part is it lives up to its name and it’s totally dry in 20-30 seconds.

Without a topcoat this lasted a day without chipping, but with a topcoat I saw it improved the wear time considerably. Unfortunately there’s not currently a topcoat accompaniment to this speedy range, which for me flaws the idea. For me there’s not much point in doing 2 super fast costs, only to be slowed down by a regular topcoat. I’d suggest using these when you’re in a rush, and following up with a topcoat as soon as you have the time.

There’s a couple of other shades which I have my eye on from this collection, having these super quick dry polishes are very good to have on stand by in case you need to rush out of the house or you’ve left it way to late prior to going to bed (as was my case) to paint your nails. I hope that they expand and build on this line like they have with the Gelly line, as pastels have a very short life in my annual nail wardrobe.

Have you tried these out yet?
