February 2015 Empties: Haircare, Nail & Fragrance

This is part 2 of my February 2015 Empties if you missed my skincare and make-up empties check this post out here. But here we’ve got another good chunk of product I’ve managed to clear from my stash this month.

Haircare Empties

Maghrabia Argan Oil Hair Treatment

Maghrabia-Argan-Oil-Hair-Treatment

Yet another Glossybox sample, this was particularly handy for travelling as it’s a small size and you only need a drop at time. This was pretty similar to every other argan oil that I’ve tried, it had a nice scent too though.

Repurchase? No – but for ease of access reasons only (+ I have 2 full size products on the go currently)

John Freida Brilliant Brunette Fixing Shine Hairspray

john-freida-brilliant-brunette-hairspray

This has been in my haircare drawer for years, and it’s never been finished as I’ve always had more than one on the go, and this was never the one I reached for. I’m glad to see this go, purely because it’s been around so long, I’m not sure what makes this brunette, as I’ve used it when I had blonde hair and saw no difference. An average hairspray, no nasty chemical scent/taste.

Repurchase?: No, I’ve found a schwarzkopf hairspray which is cheaper since which I like better.

Pantene Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo

pantene-instant-refresh-dry-shampoo

I can’t resist trying a new shampoo so when I saw this mini bottle on clearance in my supermarket for 50p I decided to give it a go. This was okay, but nothing amazing. I wouldn’t recommend it, purely because it smells awful (unless you like your hair to smell like chemicals).

Repurchase?: No

Colab Dry Shampoo Paris & Tokyo

colab-paris-tokyo-dry-shampoo

I wrote a review on the colab dry shampoo here, I liked both of these scents, I said in my review that they’re lighter than the overpowering batiste fragrances, which I prefer. Not as good as my favored Aussie Miracle dry shampoo, but a good (and cheaper) alternative.

Repurchase?: Yes

Tresemme 7 Day Smooth Heat Activated Treatment Sample

tresemme-7-day-smooth-keratin-heat-activated-treatment

Not sure where I picked this sample up, it might have been a magazine – but this has been something which has been rattling around in my drawer for 6 months or so. A 1 in 4 wash keratin treatment, this is meant to lock in straight smooth locks after applying after your first wash, blowdry and straighten (have to do whole head 4 times). I didn’t find this kept the straight style better after the second wash, but my main problem is that it left my hair feeling – although not looking- dirty, it might be that I used the whole  sachet, but it said to do so for medium hair – I’d class myself with thick medium-long hair, so I think using the whole sachet was as instructed.

Repurchase?: No

Tresemme Salon Sleek Straightening Spray

tresemme-salon-sleep-straightening-spray

I hated this product from day one of using but still persevered and finished it, hoping it would get better but never did. More than a few sprays of this and it would make my hair very greasy, conatining argan oil this was supposed to condition as well as creating a glossy smooth finish for straightening – I never found either of those qualities, maybe I needed to use more, but then it made my hair greasy so can’t win!

Repurchase?: No way José.

Nail Empties

Topshop Nail Art Pen in White

topshop-nail-art-pen-white

rather than an empty, this is now dried up. I’ve only used it a handful of times, but haven’t been that impressed from the start. The nib was too hard to create any smooth kind of design which meant having to dab on a piece of paper constantly to get the product to run through so just took far too long to do anything with. I thought it would be easier, but infact it was more difficult.

Repurchase?: No

Sally Hansen Acetone Free Polish Remover

sally-hansen-acetone-free-polish-remover

Sally Hansen are usually my choosing when it comes to nail varnish remover. There’s not much to say on this other than it does the job.

Repurchase?: No

OPI Acetone Free Polish Remover

OPI-acetone-free-nail-polish-remover

I purchased this back in October when I went on Holiday, as I needed some nail varnish remover urgently as my manicure had chipped on the way to the airport beyond recovery (also meant I got to buy nail varnishes – holiday haul here !). This was a good nail polish remover, but given how much more expensive this is than Sally Hansen, I don’t think the price difference is reflected in the effects.

Repurchase? No – but I will keep this bottle for travel as it’s handy for a week away!

Fragrance Empties

Natural Collection Wild Strawberry Body Mist

natural-collection-wild-strawberry-body-mist

I had a natural collection body mist in a previous empties, I bought these as a replacement for when I ran out of Victoria’s Secret sprays,. If you’re a young teenager, you’ll probably like these – but I think kids would love these, the scents aren’t very ‘complex’ with no blended scents, and aren’t very comparable to the Victoria’s Secret sprays. There are okay, but not for me, they don’t replace a perfume for me as VS does.

Repurchase?: No

Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume

marc-jacobs-daisy-perfume

A long standing perfume in my collection, I’ve been reluctant to use this up as I love the bottle so much. I’ve said in my perfume collection review – that I unfortunately I’m allergic to Marc Jacobs perfumes, so can’t wear in contact with my skin. I had to wear on days where I could spray onto jumpers to avoid a rash. I used to love this, but don’t now as much as I used to, possibly because I conditioned myself off it as I couldn’t wear it very often.

Repurchase?: No. Mainly because  I’m allergic.

How many products do you tend to use up each month?
