Not gonna lie, I’ve been feeling a little spendy this week, (expect an online boots order in a few days – I’m collecting it at lunch!). I had a couple of things that I wanted to go to TK Maxx for and came out with a couple more in tow at lunch time yesterday.
Things I went for
1. Comic Relief Tea Towel £4.99
If you’ve been watching the Great British Bake Off you will have seen these being used on the show – as well as the matching aprons. I picked up the Emma Bridgewater comic relief one 2 years ago which has been a really decent tea towel and always washes nicely. My boyfriend liked the quote so stopped in to get it for him – at least £2.50 from each goes to comic relief so a nice little donation also.
For those who aren’t UK based – Comic Relief (AKA Red Nose Day) is a comedy charity day which happens every other year in the UK – which raises money for both UK and African charities for poor and disadvantaged people, so a very worthy cause.
2. Comic Relief Notebook £7.99
Did I need another notebook? No, not really – however this happened to contain my favourite quote on the front, “Be Yourself as Everybody Else Is Already Taken” – Oscar Wilde. This is a really soft leather style book, with blank pages. This will be handy for blog planning as the one I’m currently using is a little dog attacked – so I’ll be keeping this one out of the way. Again at least £3 was donated to comic relief.
Things I did not go in for
3. Nicole Miller Phone Case £5.99
My current phone case was starting to look a little battered, although not completely knackered, so I just spied this whilst standing in the queue. It’s not a brand I’ve heard of before, but I liked the lacey black design. I actually thought it was going to be see-through as the pattern created a shadow but there is a silver backing which has a gap between the two so it creates a bit of an illusion which is hard to capture on camera. It also came with a screen protector, and feels nice and sturdy. My current and this phone case will hopefully now keep me going until my upgrade in October!
4. Illamasqua Nail Polish in Harem £3.99
I’ve not tried any nail varnishes from Illamasqua before, but have always heard good things – so when I saw someone pick these up in a haul from TK maxx last week I made a mental note to check them the next time I was in, there was loads! I restrained myself to only one (having ordered 4 other polishes in my boots order on Wednesday night). This is a pretty colour that sits somewhere between a pink and a lilac – I can only think of one shade in my collection similar, but I do think this is slightly pinker – and the other one is really old from 17, so is probably way past it’s best. This will be next on my nails, so expect a review shortly.
5. Label.M Dry Shampoo £4
This was discounted from £4.99 to £4, as it has a little dint in the bottle. Label.M is not a brand which gets the recognition that it deserves in my opinion (I’ve reviewed their hairdryer previously here). I’ve been on a long publicised quest for the perfect dry shampoo, so when I saw a salon brand for such a cheap price I decided to give it a whirl.
Have you been feeling spendy?

I’ve been feeling sooo spendy lately (which is bad, because I really need to watch my money right now) And I got a couple of bargains in TK Maxx the other day, including 2 illamasqua nail varnishes. I haven’t tried them out yet but i have high expectations x
There is a great excuse with TK maxx though, they won’t be there when you go back again! There was some gorgeous teal and green shades, but I have a feeling they’re similar to what I ordered from boots (but can’t quite remember which isn’t a good sign!) what colours did you pick up? X
I was really tempted by the teal but have a very similar Ciate one. I got a glittery silver and a glittery green! I posted my haul yesterday 😊 x
Such good splurge gifts for yourself. I have not been spends at all lately which is so weird for me!
I’ve been good since Christmas, which hasn’t been like me – but I’ve let it all out at once!
I love the color of that nail polish 🙂
Me too very spring appropriate! I’m changing to this tonight X
