My Little Frenchie Box: February 2015

My Little Frenchie Box: February 2015

I’m pleasantly surprised that this month’s My Little Box isn’t Valentines or Love themed as every other February box seems to have been. This month we’ve seen the French beauty box subscription collaborate with Ines de La Fressange.

If you are unaware of who Ines is – like I was – I presume she might be more of a French icon rather than globally known. Ines was a muse for Chanel during the 1980s, and became an inspiration to Karl Lagerfeld. My Little Box refers to her as a true fashion Icon and the ultimate Parisian lady, so it seems appropriate the theme for this month is My Little Frenchie.

At first instance this month’s is packaged beautifully, unlike other boxes which I think have all had the same ribbon, this has Ines’ name wrapped around the box and makes it feel truly special. Greeted on the outer packaging with a quote from Ines above which I absolutely love. With the print as the first thing on the inside also featuring a quote from Ines, I wish the quotes had been the other way around, I would have loved to frame the other and put it on my hall’s gallery wall. The magazine contains everything from an Interview with Ines to nail art inspired by Christian Louboutin.

The Extras

Smartphone Case

my-little-frenchie-box-smartphone-case

Generic size one size fits all smartphone case, I wouldn’t have purchased this, but this will be handy for travelling maybe for storing my little compact camera in, it has a handy little pouch with it too which would be a great place to keep things such as a tube card in to keep handier than putting away in your purse.

As with last month’s box, they’ve started attributing values to the Extra lifestyle products, this has a value of £16, is it worth £16? No, £5-6 maximum.

Le Petit’s Mots D’Ines – Little Pot of Messages

my-little-frenchie-box-messages-bottle

This is a little bit bizarre but cute, a little glass jar with rolled up pieces of paper in containing quotes and messages to brighten up your day. The little messages thing really isn’t me – I like the pot, but have no idea what I would use it for as it’s so small, so can’t think of a way to reuse – if you can let me know!

The Beauty Products

This is the first month that we’ve seen more than 3 beauty products in My Little Box, and I was pleasantly surprised, with most of what I’d received.

By Terry Terrybly Waterproof Eyeliner byterry-my-little-box-eyeliner

I’ve always been intrigued by ByTerry products, but as we don’t have anywhere local to me that sells it, I’m reluctant to make a purchase online and risk splurging on an item which is not going to be for me. This is a pretty black brown eyeliner with a gold shimmer running through it, I can’t see a shade name on this, and can’t work it out based on online swatches either. Never the less this is super pretty, and I’m looking forward to trying this out

L’oreal Brow Artist Pencil in Dark Brunette loreal-brow-artist-pencil-my-little-box

I’ve said before that my eyebrows need no help in definition, but I am kind of curious about this – for once this is the perfect shade of very dark brown almost black, that I imagine most will find too dark but is utterly perfect for me. A quick play leaves me pleasntly impressed with this, but as I’ve not really used eyebrow products before I can’t really comment beyond that. This is dual ended with a waxy and a coloured end, with a brush to comb through as well.

DHC Oil Blotting Paper

I’ve never used oil blotting paper before, although I really should have invested in some for summer months years ago. I’ve had a few DHC oils (ironically) from Glossybox in the past and haven’t been impressed with what I’ve tried, so here’s hoping that this is better.

Value £4 (100 Sheets)

My Little Beauty Teint De Peche

I was expecting this to be like a cream blush when I saw this, and was left a bit confused as to when I rubbed it into my skin and thought that this product was a dud. This is actually a complexion enhancer to brighten dull skin and create a glow, containing oils and anti-oxidants as well as balancing dull colour out of your skin pre make up, this should help actually relieve these areas at the same time. Not the kind of thing I can swatch on my hand and see results, so I’m excited to give this a proper try over a week.

Overall I’m very happy with this month’s box, I’m not 100% sure on the lifestyle extras this month, and haven’t been for the last few months, but all 4 of these beauty products I’m looking forward to trying out – the eyeliner is enough to make me happy regardless of anything else!

Ooo that little jar would be really cute with a tea light in! Assuming it’s big enough to get one in there x

I’ll try that good idea! I’m not sure that it will be though! It’s even smaller than it looks in the picture! X

Yep tea light is too big! Tried last night! Seems such a waste but I think I’ll just bin it – it’s too small for everything, and just looks like clutter!
